How do waitresses pull off that bright, bubbly demeanor so well?

Are you guys genuinely happy or just a world class actor?

When you’re in your 20s, people treat you like you’re committing a crime if you aren’t happy go lucky.

I feel fundamentally defunct as a woman because I’m not like that. And if I do try to force a smile, I look like I’m being held hostage

I can receive a compliment and yet still sometimes struggle to smile. I’m tired of causing people to feel awkward/unliked when they’re talking to me. So what’s the secret? Coke? Caffeine shot straight through the veins?

Waitresses have to put on a smile for the public. It's all a put on

@Sojournersoul Sure, but how do they smile so convincingly? I wish I had that skill
deciblues · 22-25, F
Even when I spent time as a customer service employee, I couldn’t pull it off
@deciblues Getting paid to smile. Only have to do it a few minutes for each customers.

Well most of the people my age were happy because when we were in our twenties we were working one or two part-time jobs maybe a full-time job if you're lucky trying to put yourself through college but we didn't have the rules of living under our parents house anymore we could stay up late we could do what we wanted in that aspect we look forward to the little things in life. And we knew that no matter what we could fail we didn't rely on cards credit cards so we didn't have to worry about long-term debt unless we took out college loans a lot of my generation didn't borrow any more than you absolutely had to have because we read the fine print on that college loan and knew that it would skyrocket if we didn't pay it back pretty quick after we graduated.

Its a face you put on like your uniform.

Many people who work have to do it - its ones "professional persona". Whether you're in an office, retail, hospitality, medical etc...you gotta do it or it just makes work harder.

And you take it off when you get home.
@OogieBoogie I took it off when they left my office. Lol
I have resting serial killer face. I couldn't fake a smile if my life depended on it.

It’s the money. They treat a woman completely different until they see the money

You haven’t learned how to fake effortlessly yet? I figured all adults develop that skill. It’s important for having a job in society.

If I had to deal with the public every day, I'd be like the Grinch.
