What do you think it is that makes Trump so popular?

Even though the media would have people believe he's not. He's got a very large following.
4meAndyou · F
I think you have to have an actual sense of humor to be able to understand that he jokes around a lot. Unfortunately, a sense of humor is something that about 1/3 of the people in our nation no longer have.

They are SO PC and SO uptight they won't be with us for long, because quite likely they will all die of high blood pressure, strokes, and blood poisoning from their own bile.

I think he is popular, also, because the hysterical media who attack him so constantly are also constantly proven to have been lying and providing false information to the American people.

Another reason he is popular is that he is sincere in his beliefs, and his beliefs include old fashioned love of his country, a need to protect the American people and return the American dream to us.

And then there is the alternative...people who will try to convince you that the economic destruction of the United States is an option, and that somehow, a country that has been ruined and bankrupted will be able to complete their plans to reduce global warming. The alternative to Trump is a politicians politician who will say anything they think you want to hear to get elected even if they don't actually plan to do it.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Budwick

Looking at my right hand counter (Trump). No lies today.

Looking at my left hand counter (Democrats) Opps 999+ the counter only goes to 999. So already off the scale. I started counting with that Jerry Nadler dude when he was on TV this morning and registered over 100 before catching Nancy Pelosi who added another 75 or 80 lies ....
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Heartlander Cool.
I obviously misunderstood.
Please accept my apologies.
4meAndyou · F
@Abrienda 😂❤️
gregloa · 61-69, M
He’s real not fake. The dem lovers accuse him of lying while every one of the democrats are running on the biggest lies any candidate has ever uttered in the history of all elections. 😂🤣😅😆 their promises are so freakin impossible that any lunatic would never believe such horse $hit. OMG!!! While they and the mainstream media sit in their filthy rice lifestyles not giving a $hit about any hard working Americans having to work for a living in an industry the dems plan on shutting down. Trump better win and he will because the dems are cutting their own throat 😂 or America will go straight to hell.
@gregloa Your rock is calling. Crawl back under it and turn up Limbnuts REALLY loud so you can block out reality. It's worked for you so far.

He works tirelessly for America.
His ideas make sense.
He pushed back on people and institutions that lie or misrepresent his position. (That's a big one.)

I am just telling it like it is Budwick. Doesnt take much to find out nowdays all the info I need to know about. And no I dont watch Fox or CNN...I dont have cable in my house.
Thank you and yes those are my legs!

@PTCdresser57 No, you're telling like you see it.
And, your legs? Ewe!
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
No Budwick..I tell it like after investigating it. Do you have any idea how much money Trump owes ppl or how many lawsuits he has or is involved in and what the outcomes are or were?
It is amazing...you are the one that brought up my legs and accused me of borrowing them.

@PTCdresser57 Sorry to hear about that PT.

The good news is that there are now more jobs than people looking for one! That really improves your odds.

If your job skills are current, that may hurt though. I can see how someone out age could have gotten caught up in that situation. I don't have a solution for you. But, I'm your same age - and I've been learning new stuff that has helped me. If I can, I bet you can too! I made more last year than any year before.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Getting "A" job isnt the problem Budwick. There are plenty of jobs for me but the pay is the issue..they are lower paying jobs. In my field I was making 75K...that job is being offered at 50-55K. Would you take that type of pay cut?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@PTCdresser57 I DID take that kind of paycut when I wanted out of big corp.

You won't starve at $50k

People are tired of the status quo. Nothing gets accomplished because politicians generally vote along their party lines. Citizens are fed up with the gridlock, feeling as if they have no voice, and they were looking for someone who isn't a politician who will shake things up. Also, he wasn't Hillary. Lol.
SW-User
@SW-User
If they were looking for someone to shake things up then they got what they wanted.

@SW-User
They certainly did! I have a number of friends who voted for him. They are aware of his lying, poor diplomatic skills, and all the negatives everyone points out. They're just fed up with everything. They think he's better than anything the Dems have to offer. Even now, they're complaining to me that every Dem candidate is just giving the same lip service they always do & nothing has changed. It's not that they love him the way others we've seen do, it's because they feel there is no viable alternative.

All his "dirt" has already been shown to the American people and the worlds years ago.

Trump stands up to Democrats and their media stooges. What a refreshing change to national politics.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
- Because he's trim and fit.
- He never lies.
- He keeps his promises like, he never plays golf, he's always working, and Mexico is paying for the wall.
- He solved the nuclear threat from North Korea.
- He's reduced the budget deficit.
- He's been exonerated.
- He did a good job when he lost the House of Representatives for the Republicans. It's really a good thing.
- He knows more than the Generals.
- He knows weather better than anyone else.
- He knows more about technology than anyone else.
- He knows more about money management than anyone else.
- He knows more about interest rates than anyone else.
- He sweats a lot by just standing still.
- He forgot that Melania's son is his son too.

And, those are just some of the reasons Baby-trump is so popular.
@MarkPaul Love it... but ya know what? I'd bet you $100 most Trumpers reading your comment will NEVER catch the sarcasm and think you're pointing all of Trumps positives. Lol
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
For me, it is the very obvious propaganda and narrative the Democrats and their mouthpiece the MSM have tried to impose on people the last few years.

He and his administration stand in continual defiance of that narrative.

And yes, his support is way higher than the MSM will admit to.

People want to see chaos. It's voyeurism. These same folks spend time watching reality tv for the same reason.

That and potus believes things out loud that his cultists used to quietly believe. Now they too have permission to do it out loud.

He has that charisma that newly followed cult leaders possess. Something about a narcissistic fool, blathering on about how everything is some one elses fault....frees folks up to do the same.
vorian · 51-55, M
@Carla love this. Nice to see there are some Americans who think like me about this narcissistic sociopath.

@Carla I hope so. Boris is taking us down a similar path over here I'm afraid.
nonny · 56-60, M
He’s been the least popular US President in decades by any actual measure. The way that his base substitutes what they want to believe about his popularity for what is actually true says a lot about them, and him. Post-truth. “Alternate facts.”
nonny · 56-60, M
You found one day, in one poll, over one year ago. Your own link says that poll “often reflected higher approval ratings for Trump than most other major polls.”

Here he is graphed against all recent presidents over multiple years, showing there is no precedent for his unpopularity.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

Now, what was that you were trying to believe? What you did is a classic example of how “post-truth” works. Ignore all the easily available evidence except one tiny anecdote or crumb that lets you keep believing what you want to believe. @Abrienda

"Now, what was that you were trying to believe? What you did is a classic example of how “post-truth” works. Ignore all the easily available evidence except one tiny anecdote or crumb that lets you keep believing what you want to believe."

Not sure I would call a Rasmussen polling a "crump" but what you REALLY mean is TRUTH are your facts not those that contradict your "opinions".

However, as for you being the "arbiter of truth", the Moslems would say to you "So, Mohammed was NOT the last Prophet?"

I'll just simply say...you are not God, although many psychopaths believe they are. Something for you to think about.

Hope you enjoy Trump's victory next year.
nonny · 56-60, M
Do you understand what 538 (source of the linked graphs) is? Genuinely curious, because it doesn’t seem like it.

It’s the single most respected, impartial, data-driven analyst of all major polling in the US. It became famous a couple of election cycles ago for correctly calling every major election race in the country.

In other words, your single data point of one cherry-picked poll on one day is included in its overall picture — which also includes about 100 times as many polling sources on roughly 1000 times as many days.

That’s a ratio of 100,000 : 1. Your belief that these are equal forms of evidence and I’m somehow just picking the one I like requires a special kind of very determined stupidity.@Abrienda

@helenS Maybe it is !!
Trump allowed closet racists to come out into the sun. For 8 years the racists of America seethed at a black being in the WHITE House. Racism was there---but it had a lid on it. But it seethed under the surface. Trump came along and told people it was OK to hate--publicly....and being a talk show host he knew how to play a crowd. If he hated the same people his cult did...they would support him no matter what.

None of them think in their minds he has followed thru on even one of the lies he told them----to get elected. They know Tweeting at 3 a.m....and playing golf 3-4 days EVERY week and windmill cancer and Sharpie markers isn't rational or presidential---or even close to what they elected him to do. ALL trump cultist knows he's a flat our liar...........but to them that is acceptable----as long as he keeps on hating who they hate.
You’re such a wanker@anythingoes477
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout My point exactly........hate openly...never share even one fact back to rationally dispute what was presented to you....overlook and diss anything truthful as a lie...........and you qualify as a Trumper.

mike1981 · 41-45, M
@PTCdresser57 Some americans say he's done a lot for the economy though. Bringing in a lot of jobs and so forth. However, I've noticed he doesnt' seem to have much interest in other things a countrys leader should have
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
If you look at statistics mike...he really hasnt done all that much. The economy was on an upswing before he got elected and has continued that path. The jobs that he said would come back from overseas is minute and the jobs that have been created lately are low paying. His tax cuts were for big buisness and the wealthy...his own buisness are profitting 11-15 million a yr. 60 of the top buisness in the US paid no taxes and some even got millions back.

@Stereoguy I was with my gf in Prague the morning/your night of the election. I was afraid to turn on the television but finally did...just as he won Florida! I could not believe it...and then when Michigan and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin fell I thought I was dreaming. I woke my gf up and said "Great news! Donald Trump is president of the United States!" And that minx looked at me and said "Who's RONALD Trump?" then started to laugh cause she had been listening the whole time while pretending to be asleep!

His victory was important for us in the right-populist parties in Central Europe because along with Brexit it gave us legitimacy. That's why we are his fiercest supporters.

Trump is even more disliked than liked, which is to say he is the most divisive figure ever in American politics.
He identified what 36% of the people want to hear and sends that message.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@monte3 I'll type it slowly so you will understand...

You wrote -

"Trump is even more disliked than liked, which is to say he is the MOST DIVISIVE FIGURE EVER IN AMERICAN POLITICS.'

The word "ever" is obviously FACTUALLY untrue. You were perhaps absent the day they explained it was Lincoln's ELECTION that prompted the Southern states to succeed, thus beginning a civil war that cost 500,000 deaths, and that he only won his first election because of the electoral college.

Sound familiar?

And WHERE were the words you quote of Lincoln's first said? On a BATTLEFIELD where thousands of Americans KILLED each another.

That's what it has to do with it. Please donate 25 USD to a charity of your choice in payment for today's lesson.
Longtokiss · 56-60, M
@Abrienda This is so exactly true. Lincoln was so hated in his time also. But now he belongs to the Ages. When this country is again led by democrats and thousands of Arab fighters are killing Christian here, we will look back to Trump in the same way. I am so afraid this will happen someday soon.
monte3 · 70-79, M
Perhaps you missed the post just above yours where I conceded that yeah probably Lincoln was even more disruptive. And yes a lot of people died in the Civil War, amazing what it took to end slavey! And I think the phrase is from his first inauguration speech. Not on a battlefield.
And a word of advice, if I may, your arguments would be more effective if you didn’t go directly to insult.
