Trump is even more disliked than liked, which is to say he is the most divisive figure ever in American politics.
He identified what 36% of the people want to hear and sends that message.

@monte3 Ever heard of Abraham Lincoln? Obviously you failed your history classes in school and rely exclusively on the failing Communist News Network for you "information".
As for "approval" numbers (you got a source for that number?) Hitler delivered a message that 90 plus percent of Germans liked...he was REAL popular. By your juvenile standard, that makes Hitler a great leader in your mind, yes?
I have a suggestion - try reading a book of history. You can find them in places called libraries. They're everywhere.

@monte3 I'll type it slowly so you will understand...

The word "ever" is obviously FACTUALLY untrue. You were perhaps absent the day they explained it was Lincoln's ELECTION that prompted the Southern states to succeed, thus beginning a civil war that cost 500,000 deaths, and that he only won his first election because of the electoral college.
Sound familiar?
And WHERE were the words you quote of Lincoln's first said? On a BATTLEFIELD where thousands of Americans KILLED each another.
That's what it has to do with it. Please donate 25 USD to a charity of your choice in payment for today's lesson.

@Abrienda This is so exactly true. Lincoln was so hated in his time also. But now he belongs to the Ages. When this country is again led by democrats and thousands of Arab fighters are killing Christian here, we will look back to Trump in the same way. I am so afraid this will happen someday soon.

Perhaps you missed the post just above yours where I conceded that yeah probably Lincoln was even more disruptive. And yes a lot of people died in the Civil War, amazing what it took to end slavey! And I think the phrase is from his first inauguration speech. Not on a battlefield.
And a word of advice, if I may, your arguments would be more effective if you didn’t go directly to insult.
