How do you cope with stress?

If you knew me past a computer screen, you'd know there's a lot on my plate, and sometimes it feels like more than a mouthful. I'm trying to stay sane but negativity and my own faithless reassurance keeps bringing me down. How do you pick yourself up and tell yourself you got this?

Meditation and practicing mindfulness has really personally helped me stay focused on the moment and keep me motivated. It doesn't work for everyone, but that's what I've found. Even if a stressful thought comes through, sort of recognizing it for what it is, and then letting it go and refocusing on what you're doing.

@caccoon Thank you. I need to start being more aware that this stress will be fleeting.

@KillKittie 🤗 I wish you luck! I know it's easier said than done, but I do hope you can find your way through it! It's terrible draining and it really weighs you down to have a lot playing on your mind.

Coping with stress is really easier said than done. My series of coping mechanism mainly involve not accepting more on my plate that I know I can handle. However, when that does happen, I motivate and guide myself to find ways to complete or delegate some of the burdens as fast as possible.

When I get home, there are hobbies that work for me to make me relived. One of them is gaming, and the other one is working out. Work-out has been scientifically proven time and time again to be an amazing coping mechanism towards stress. It helps change your focus and determination on the work-out, it gives an outlet for your emotions, and it releases dopamines and endorphines which gives a sense of joy, relief and feeling of mastery.

@Alphie I say that to myself knowing I shouldn’t be available for every little thing but somehow i try to fit it in, i need to know my limits. And I’ll take up working up too, I appreciate you taking the time to write that.

I take a walk in some natural setting, away from traffic. I follow that with listening to music. If that fails, I lie down next to my old dog and let her soothe my soul. At any time during that process, I pray.

@exexec thanks I’ll try to incorporate some walking :)

Usually I try to calm down my body first. I used to take a LOT of very hot soaks in the tub, with scented oil, candles, and a big glass of iced water, a washcloth to wipe my brow, and all light except the candles out. I would fill the tub with super hot water whenever it cooled....and sometimes I looked like a lobster when I got out, and could barely stagger to my bed and had to have a fan blowing on me so I didn't die of heat stroke...😉. It took me a long time to realize that I had to get certain people out of my life, because they were contributing 90% of the negativity.

get away from all the negativity you find within yourself. discover to spin the matters positively with your conscience. you'll discover the good feeling inside and see smiles from those around you. not all the time .... but from time to time and that'll lift your own spirit immensely.

finding something to take your mind off of things for the moment. everything in life comes and goes. that stressful moment is just there for a time being. so listening to music, talking or hanging out with friends, watching something you love or doing something that you love to where it relaxes your thoughts. the worse things about stress its that it will continue to eat at you and consume you till something is done about it.
KillKittie · 26-30, F
@SW-User thank you for that. Some of the points you mentioned I’ve started doing too. Sometimes it seems so simple to just say relax, but when you don’t know how to do that then it becomes daunting. Thanks Again
