What is the best country in the world to live in?

Ynotisay · M
According to the research, via 'quality of life' indicators, each year it's almost always Switzerland, Sweden, Norway or Canada. Higher taxes but far less wealth disparity and a lot that comes back to the citizens.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@Ynotisay The only problem with that for me is the winters, I hate snow and ice
Ynotisay · M
@Justenjoyit Ha. Yeah. There is that. 👍
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Ynotisay But they all have snow....... and only Canada speaks English, which is a disadvantage in the world right now.
😷
Ontheroad · M
I've lived in many and found happy people in all of them. The best for you may often not be the best for another.
4meAndyou · F
Apparently, New Zealand. Even though they are turning it into another communist hellhole, like Australia, all the billionaires are building their fancy bomb shelters there. They say New Zealand has the best chance of surviving an all out nuclear war.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Musicman

Impressive is more the right word, rather than 'like.'
I cried my eyes out the first time I saw it. 😢
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Thinkerbell Especially in the end when she uses her code "I am ready for my tea now". 💔😢😢😢😢
Slade · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou

Since repopulation will be necessary, tell the Kiwis to get off (and not into) their sheep 🐑
Baremine · 70-79, C
Used to be the United States but comrade Biden and the socialist Democrats fucked that up.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Baremine · 70-79, C
@HoraceGreenley nothing to brag about
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Baremine
Nope
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M
salwa · F
@TheOthetAcc what? No
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M
@salwa Definitely the best .
Depends on what you value.

I value happiness, and the latest annual happiness report (which usually comes out in March, so the Israel war has not started yet) is as follows

1. Finland
2. Denmark
3. Iceland
4. Israel
5. The Netherlands
6. Sweden
7. Norway
8. Switzerland
9. Luxembourg
10. New Zealand
Slade · 56-60, M
@sstronaut

Is it correlation, or causation? 🤔
@Slade I don't think the why matters. Happy is Happy
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@sstronaut Israel must be a joke.
carpediem · 61-69, M
Despite the shift towards totalitarianism and socialism we are currently experiencing in United States, I still think it’s the best place to live. At least for me. And I even live in a bankrupt blue state run by idiots.
calicuz · 51-55, M
I don't think there is ONE country that IS the best. All have something to offer everyone.
Dusty101 · F
Ireland, it's magical, enchanting and the most beautiful place to live.
MougyWolf · 36-40, M
I used to think Canada, however, I have come to change my mind a lot about that
DownTheStreet · 51-55, M
Depends who you are and what you want
Elessar · 26-30, M
If you don't have to sustain yourself working, I'd say Italy is pretty neat

If you have to work, well, it's still neat but relatively hard mode compared to elsewhere
exexec · 61-69, C
Our cousin has lived in Switzerland for years and says it is really a good place to live. If I can find someplace warm there, I would choose that country.
salwa · F
@exexec Yes i visited switzerland and it is a real heaven on earth
Rich middle eastern country who dont accept illegals.. Qatar or something…
@Thinkerbell and well behaved on Qatar soil.. no hamas or Hezbelah crap there ey? 😏
salwa · F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
my problem with the gulf countries is the climate, i can't adapt with the dry hot climate, i want to enjoy nature not desert, don't want to spend all my life in a conditioner, money is not my problem at all
@salwa I’m the opposite..
One night last winter.. I went to bed in my snow pants 🥶
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Lichtenstein! It's small and cozy, you can wear Lederhosen after Labor Day, there's a world class yodeling school in Buchs with a great view of a castle! The list just goes on and on..
Rumboltz · 41-45, M
I want to live where all drugs are legal.
salwa · F
@Rumboltz go to Afganistan 😂
Rumboltz · 41-45, M
@salwa I can lead muslim prayer.
calicuz · 51-55, M
@Rumboltz

Then you want Portland, Oregon. While not a country, all drugs and open use of those drugs has been decriminalized.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Thats situational. the best country to be really rich in is America..
I like Australia if you are middle class..😷
Convivial · 26-30, F
The one where you feel most at home ...
salwa · F
@Convivial i can adapt quickly with new places so i visited many conutries including US, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, UK and loved them all
Convivial · 26-30, F
@salwa I've traveled through several and each has its charms and benefits... But i do appreciate a more European view on life, chasing happiness rather than material things🤗
Natureman · 61-69, M
Australia 🤷🏻
salwa · F
@Natureman i hate the humid climate, i heard that reptiles enter homes there and this is my worst nightmare 😂
Natureman · 61-69, M
@salwa don’t believe everything you hear
Natureman · 61-69, M
@Natureman only some states have the humidity
spjennifer · 56-60, T
I have read that Costa Rica is a nice place to live, temperate climate and apparently the people there are very nice, it's usually in the top 25 countries in the world for happiness.
Ynotisay · M
@spjennifer I have a nomad buddy who spent about six months there last year and said the same thing. He really liked it. Said it was a pretty easy place for expats to operate.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Ynotisay Yes, I have some friends who've lived there for 3-4 years now and they say it's very nice to live, low crime and quite peaceful too 😊
Probably Switzerland.
Wolffy · 56-60, M
Honestly in my opinion the best country to live in the world would be the on the moon there's no one up there to judge tell you what to do or shun you for how you are or who you are
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Wolffy Just enjoy the cool breeze..😷
Ceinwyn · 26-30, F
I haven’t visited enough to answer. But of the dozen I’ve been to, I liked Norway the most.
salwa · F
@Ceinwyn many people mentioned the same, Norway
benfaltiger004 · 46-50, M
Grass is always green on the other side ... lol
swirlie · 31-35, F
@benfaltiger004
..but greener on the other side of where?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Wherever you feel safest and most accepted.
Depends on all kinds of factors. Class is a big one.
Rob04 · 18-21, M
The place we are born n bred of course.
Juxdia · 26-30, F
Definitely not Morocco 😂
calicuz · 51-55, M
@Juxdia

I love Morocco, the beaches are beautiful and peaceful.
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
Bharat ( India)
I’ve visited a few, but only lived in one, so I don’t really know.
Beth35 · 36-40, F
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
I think there are a lot of countries that are good to live in, as long as you can get your head around the people and grasp another language.
salwa · F
@Justenjoyit i am seeking a quite life, a place with beautiful nature, free of racism since i am Arab and Muslim i know there are many racists everywehre, this matters the most for me
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@salwa I am English and have lived in Germany for many years, I have seen a big change in the diversity happen which is a good thing. I have always worked for the British forces so I have always been with my own people. I belive now Germany is opening up to skilled people to come to Germany who can speak only English.
Natureman · 61-69, M
@salwa come to Australia i would love to look after you
salwa · F
@Fertilization no, can't bear their climate and never accepted the idea to live most of my life in a conditioner
rrraksamam · 31-35, M
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Probably one of the Scandinavian countries like Iceland, Norway or Sweden.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Denmark seems pretty swell

Australia now has a strategy for its migration system. The Government’s Migration Strategy was released on 11 December 2023.

A new vision for Australia’s migration system, with a policy roadmap containing 8 key actions and over 25 new policy commitments and areas for future reform.

No unskilled workers allowed
Higher funding to higher skilled migrants
More jobs to be created for higher skilled migrants
Higher subsidy to help for migrant skill training
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User So therefore not likely to feature highly on most peoples' lists of the best countries to live in? 🤔
SW-User
@SunshineGirl Most people couldn't handle this

If you want to legally carry a gun under your hijab, then move to the USA.

If you want to legally kill someone because you thought your life was in jeopardy when they looked at you and said you don't look like they do, then move to the USA.

If you want to pretend to your friends back home that you now live in the richest country on earth despite your annual income tax return to the IRS revealing that you actually live in abject poverty, then move to the USA.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@swirlie EEEEEP.... EEEEEEP.... EEEEEEP...

Somebody's backing up the "Agenda" bus. Everyone please step back, for your own safety!
salwa · F
@swirlie
i will consider the first phrase as a racist phrase, stop living in that planet racists
swirlie · 31-35, F
@salwa
No, it's not being Racist at all. If you think my comment was intended as a Racial slur, that is a meaning that YOU CHOSE to assign to it, not me.

You have stated in your profile (I believe is where I read it), that you are Arab and Muslim. If you wear a hijab and if you want to carry a gun and conceal anywhere on your person, such as in your pocket or under your hijab or if you want to wear it with denim jeans around your waist in a gun holster for all to see, you can legally do that in the United States of America, assuming you qualify as a US Citizen in good standing and therefore, are qualified as one who is 'Licensed to Carry'.
empanadas · 31-35, M
Not the USA or EU .

Probably new Zealand
salwa · F
@empanadas why not US, i visited New York, Washington, California and they are fine
empanadas · 31-35, M
@salwa visiting is very different than living. The USA is falling apart. Too many mass shooters here, the police are horrible, bunch of junkies making tent cities, the school system is failing kids...and the culture has let being a degenerate the norm
