In a train? No

On the back of one, a few times
Yes....not my fault if the guard doesn't come through selling tickets.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales But the law says you must have a ticket before you travel.
@MartinII Yes-but in the days before ticket machines( and online sales) if the ticket offices were closed you had to buy on the train.
Still the case if there are no means to buy a ticket at the station.
You don't have to buy online.
So I've had several late night trips to my local station free of charge.
On occasion the conductor simply didn't bother selling tickets.
Others he had to sell so many he never got to me.

There was this train in Six Flags years back (or you could call it a door-less bus if you want). When I talk about years back, I'm talking like a decade ago, I was 8 or 9.
The train didn't require any money nor tickets. You just got to hop on when it stops and hop off when you see a stop you want to go to.
Maybe by 'mistake' when the trains were still new in the area. It's a steep enough fine if you're caught so why bother.

Only once abroad. I couldn't work the ticket machine but I was wetting myself all 3km 😱
Wizardry · 46-50, M
Yes and had to pay when arriving at the place that I was going to
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I only been on a train one time. I think we had to have a ticket
Katie01 · F
Pretty much every time I've been on a train
Mysticeve · 22-25, F
I watched someone get busted for it once, fined $225 instead of paying $5 for the ticket.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No, especially deliberately as I'm not a thief.

Though once the guard did not reach me to sell me a ticket quickly after I'd boarded, then misunderstood my request, so entered the wrong destination - one station short by six miles - for my return. That might have been awkward if the guard on the return train had asked to see it, but he didn't.
On more than one occasion.

Once, when a schoolfriend persuaded me to try it on. We were caught, but got away with it after paying.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Once because the ticket machine was broken but I had the money to pay ready to go if someone stopped me.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
