Do you believe every one sided story people tell about other people or do you know there is always another side?

Top | New | Old
I consider the source, always. There are people whom I love whilst knowing they tend to exaggerate. There are others, like my brother, who do the opposite. When he would tell me about things he saw as a cop, I knew he was sparing me the details.
@bijouxbroussard
Exaggerate?? I don't know the MEANING of the word!!

I believe that all involved have their own version of the story and then there is the truth. People process things differently and will tell the story based on how they view the issue. Personally, it comes down to how serious the issue is or how well I know the person sharing the information. Most of the time one sided stories are a form of gossip, which I don't entertain.

I believe each person has their own perspective. And none of the perspectives are right.

No two people are the same.

Pass a story around in any group of people and it's not the same story at the end of the group. It's called the telephone game apparently.

Of course not I don't blindly believe one side, that would be the definition of ignorant. I am not one who jumps on the bandwagon because I want to be liked and in the good graces of someone. I am my own person.

People are biased of course and will tend to paint others as the culprit while trying to look clean in their victimhood. But when there is legit evidence / proof for one side, I believe that.

I take both sides with a huge pinch of salt, allowing for their own perspectives which tend to get narrow when it comes to any stories about themselves or those that hurt them.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
There is always another side, but there are people I trust more than others.
The ones who tell everybody and their Uncle every sad story under the sun for attention are the ones I try to avoid and usually don't believe anything that they say.

I generally accept there are always two sides. If I need to empathetic about it, it usually doesn’t matter though.
If one side is presenting actual proof, and the other cannot, I would obviously believe the side presenting proof.

With SW specifically though, presenting proof is not allowed, thus you cannot defend yourself against a serial liar on SW, and the liar can continue to lie ad nauseum in public as long as they do not literally show your username, even though everyone knows who they are talking about, and they can continue lying about you in private, both before and after you addressed their lies in public, without any penalty (and their spreading rumors in private is part of what led you to outing them in public in the first place, after one of the most trusted people on this site revealed the liar's behind-the-scenes machinations to you).

A certain portion of this site can be clearly shown that 2+2=4, but if the liar tells them 2+2=7, that's what this portion of the site will continue to believe, overriding their own eyes, even after being shown proof of the liar also lying to them and/or badmouthing them behind their back ... for those people, the person revealing the deception to them will always be the bad guy, not the person doing the deception ... it is just surreal, up really is down here. I've never experienced anything like this before, never had any reason to address anything like that in public before either.

Presumably you're not even allowed to reveal the mothballed alt of the liar either.

It is very disappointing that this is what the admins consider just.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
I don't listen to stories that people tell about other people. I will shut them down right then and there i'm not interested in hearing it.
@AngelUnforgiven There are three sides to every story, theirs, the other theirs, and the actual truth.
TurtlePink · 51-55, M
Im starting not to. Everybody who tells me something can’t all be the victim 🙄 somebody had to have done something.
calicuz · 56-60, M
I personally have no time for gossip.
There's usually 3 sides...🤷🏾
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DancingStarGoddess i like the way you think, based on your recent posts.
@samueltyler2 Thank you 😊
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DancingStarGoddess my pleasure. You are really interesting, too bad I am not much younger and we are attached.
There’s always another side, and someone willing to tell it.

Sometimes there’s only one truth.
Some one-sided stories, yes. For example, I believe Hitler was pure evil.
@rinkydinkydoink I believe the same of Trump at this point.
@bijouxbroussard

And you wouldn't be wrong.

I'll take just about anything with a grain of salt
Observe everything, believe nothing.
There's always another version of the story.

Everyone wants their side of the story to be believed.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Depends on my bias towards the person
meJess · F
Do you mean the political posts on SW?
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
There is one persons side, the other persons side and then what actually happened somewhere in the middle.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
I guess to stick with a winner whatever side hogs up the whole story must be the right side. 🗣
Alyosha · 36-40, M
Depends on the source and the story.
SomeIrishPerson · 31-35, M
It depends entirely on what is being claimed and who is claiming it.
