A smack across the backside from a loving parent doesn't hurt a child.

@PatientlyWaiting25 Being raised like this doesn't mean it's healthy. We used to operate on babies without anesthesia up until the 70s. That was normal then. It means that this type of abuse was and is normalized now. And it's absolutely psychological abuse.
There are numerous studies done on children that were and weren't disciplined following them to adult life and how it affected them. Children that weren't hit are safer and tend to have better emotional outcomes(regulations, relationships etc).
Children that have been hit or had hard punishment have increased aggression, anxiety, poorer relationships etc etc .
I don't need to prove that the entire world is better to acknowledge that beating, humiliating, threatening and emotionally controlling children causes harms.
The more important question is if a particular behavior damages the child's wellbeing.
And as we all know, history and traditions have shown to be very very very VERY twisted and insane by today's standards. Need I list some accepted behaviors, besides the live baby no-anesthesia operations? Other examples include-slavery, lobotomy, child brides. Etc. They have all been accepted, normalized and defended by people at some points in the past.(and even today)

@greensnacks you are free to believe whatever you like.
greensnacks · F
@PatientlyWaiting25 Yes. Only my belief doesn't contribute to children's mental damage.
And is backed up by studies, not just personal experience.

another one:
there is not one person alive on this entire planet who is "not political" ... virtually every minute everyday life choice or complaint has an upstream or downstream political nuance
K-cup user, carnivores, climate crisis era intentional desert dwellers, and non-voters are all making political choices even if they delude themselves into believing otherwise, as nothing in the world occurs in a vacuum, every choice everyone makes has effects

Mark Carney should be the Time Person of the Year. His kick-in-the-nuts use of the word hydronym was inspired!

Being a loner is not OK or normal. Social interaction is a human need, and if you neglect it, that is self-destructive behavior. Saying you don't want to interact with other people is like saying you don't want to brush your teeth or exercise. I say this with no ill will -- I want you to recover and improve your life. But I want you to think of this as a problem the same way you would with (in example) people suffering from an eating disorder, sedentary lifestyles, or self harm.
Patriarchy doesn't have to be a bad thing.

That Donald Trump is one of the greatest Presidents to ever live. 🙂
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Musicman You're not showing anything that counters the tangible, objective reality before your very own eyes that gas at the station is more expensive in 2026 (Trump II) than in 2024 (Biden)

Short people can't be bards.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
@Ontheroad I blame the movies.
All the bards in movies are tall and skinny.
The Fake Movie Media has created an unrealistic conception of Bardom across the globe and I for one can't sit it.
So instead, I stand with you on this matter of great import and vitality to the health of musical storytellers everywhere!

That a male user being consistently kind is no reason to infer that he's a Simp.
Toxic masculinity is not the only way to be a man here.

@Jackaloftheazuresand The thing about SW is the more involved you are, the more involved it gets. Messages, replies, comments…. It can be a lot to keep up with for anyone that tries to keep up.
Which is why I am usually quiet.
This is the most active weekend of SW that I’ve had in years.
I did not take you as an antagonist at all. It’s just that line of thought goes off the beaten path and I don’t have the time or will to reply to it intelligently
It is an interesting subset of this whole thing though

Just cause I'm still living in my "mom's basement" doesn't make me the bad guy.

...that's right, it's actually your parent's fault that you still live in their basement.

Homo- and pan-sexuality as well 'polyamory' are perfectly natural. If we treated them so, much suffering and waste of human resources would be avoided.
ETA: That's my unpopular opinion, up for comment.

I have several but probably I guess the most likely is that although I accept that Jesus was a real person I can’t see any reason to think he was a divine never mind begotten not created. The whole nonsense of the Holy Trinity was an invention of the Council of Constantinople to reconcile the contradiction of monotheism and the divinity of Jesus.
That it's okay to share how you feel and what's going on in your reality.
I get so bored with people apologizing for having feelings, or acting like they're bringing down the vibe, or the "this is Wendy's" thing.
If you want to be a normie go on Facebook.

PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Houdini but then people think you are fake. I'd be much more likely to message with someone if I can see the level of their intelligence through their profile and be able to gauge what their interests are.
