@pripyatamusementpark Communism, like any other evil, has to masquerade as good. If the leaders came out and said, support our system because we will make you work, take everything you value, and kill you if you complain, they couldn't coopt the amount of support they needed.

@Harmonium1923 When my mother stopped eating, one of her caregivers suggested bringing a cannabis product like a drink or candy. Mom was always very opposed to weed or weed products, even when they became legal here, and she strongly disapproved of me using them even for sleep. During one of our final conversations before she became non-verbal I told her that if she drank a cannabis drink she might possibly regain her appetite. She replied that she was "too old to become a pothead" and made me promise I wouldn’t let anyone give her anything like that. Sadly, I respected her wishes. It might not have worked anyway, but I’ll never know. 😞
