Why are men never prepared for a no when they propose?

Every time a woman says no to a proposal the man acts like she's speaking another language for the first ten no's, then acts like he just saw a puppy die.

I mean I've never been in that situation so I can't say I'd do any better but I thought there would be some sort of etiquette around that. You're putting her on the spot. 😅 Is it not like being turned down for anything else in life where yeah it sucks but you gotta give them a way out?

from my pov I'll say yes and then tell him no privately if I don't want him.
that's just me though. because imo when a woman says no in the presence of a group of people it's kinda humiliating and I wouldn't want someone to humiliate me like that either. 🥀
@FlowerPetal I figured you would, you're sweet.

I avoided the "no" by not proposing. I just held out a ring and she took it. Of course, we had dated almost 8 years and had talked at length about getting married when she graduated from college.

i would just go to my room and grumble quietly
i'd hate to force anything.
I don't know how I would recover if I ever witnessed that. That's brutal. Just lie to the man until you get home
@HijabaDabbaDoo I didn't expect you to have the same answer as Petal but so much sassier.

I would guess that most people only propose when they think it's practically a sure thing. They probably aren't prepared for a no.

Thinking how unethical it is when I see those proposals on TV where everybody's watching. 📺👀

Most guys go through life assuming the answer will always be "yes" so it's pretty devastating when it isn't.
@ArkBallet Hahahaha

@SinlessOnslaught It's true! I see it time and time again. Young guys assume they're god's gift to women and it shocks the hell out of them when they're not.
@ArkBallet Some of them yeah

Just don't get married - it's not worth the risk emotionally or financially.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Surprise proposals are rude. In public it’s even worse lol
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@SwampFlower Surely if the man is a Chad or Tyrone 9+ SMV type (and/or someone you think is rich) you'd change the 'rules' accordingly. 8-)
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@zonavar68 nope
@zonavar68 nope
