Why are men never prepared for a no when they propose?

Every time a woman says no to a proposal the man acts like she's speaking another language for the first ten no's, then acts like he just saw a puppy die.

I mean I've never been in that situation so I can't say I'd do any better but I thought there would be some sort of etiquette around that. You're putting her on the spot. 😅 Is it not like being turned down for anything else in life where yeah it sucks but you gotta give them a way out?

I would guess that most people only propose when they think it's practically a sure thing. They probably aren't prepared for a no.

It would definitely be a tough situation. I like to take things calmly and be sensible and I still can imagine it would be pretty devastating to be told no to that.
