Will be interesting to see but it can only work if he builds from the bottom up fed/state/local. He should cherry pick toss up districts in congress and start there.
They also would not get any committee seats, system is totally set up against it.
Look at bernie, calls himself an independent but is beholden to the dems.

It's a good way to split up the right to give the left better chances of winning, if there ever will be elections again. So I'm all for it.

Lot of this going around.
Similar thing happening in the UK.
The left isn't left enough so Jeremy Corbyn is launching his giant stride in that direction.
And then we have Nigel Farage looking to make conservatism so unappealing the more extreme end of that spectrum is being lured in that direction.

I think it's way past due. We need a new political party. And even though I don’t like Elon Musk, it’s going to take someone with serious influence and deep pockets to pull it off. Musk has X (formerly Twitter) and billions of dollars. No one is in a better position.
I’m a moderate who leans conservative. The current GOP has abandoned all conserative values. The Republican Party’s been hijacked by neocons, warmongers, racists, and bigots for too damn long. People like Lindsey Graham, who serve the interests of war profiteers, and Marco Rubio, who seems driven by a personal vendetta against Cuba, have no place in government.
As for Elon Musk, the real concern would be him trying to form a plutocratic party controlled by the ultra-wealthy. Though, if we are being honest, that already describes both the Republican and Democratic parties.

@Lilymoon Armageddon It… great song by Def Leppard 🤘
Lilymoon · F
@GBPackersFan yeah!
given the stunning levels of competence he's shown across all his endeavors - spacex rockets blowing up on the platform, his zero flaw self driving tesla taxis, the las vegas loop, taking over twitter (now X, even though nobody calls it that), down to his endorsement of trump and leading/not-leading the 'DOGE' group (which it turns out was the most ironically named anything, ever), I'm sure the levels of success he'll achieve will best be described in either angstroms or planck lengths.

Talk about autistic tantrum..
It’s his money. But I doubt very much it’s the 70+M MAGA folk who are worried..
The 20% national popularity dems should be concerned

It’s an opportunity for the few Republicans who haven’t lost their minds to reclaim the GOP. The MAGAs can go on off with Musk.
@Elessar but MAGA is only part of the GOP, so there will still be a split.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato The non-MAGA GOP already voted blue for the past two elections (Lincoln Project, Cheneys et al.) and have the numbers maybe to run a mayoral campaign in a small-mid town in the middle of Texas
Fixating with that minority has already costed the Dems an election, it's better forgetting about those altogether..

The Americans do a lot of evil because they're not onto politics, but they vote for the two parties. No exit. No.
Elessar · 31-35, M
The fighting splitting would be great, but the only one fooling himself that this party could go anywhere is Musk himself
BohemianBabe · M
It won't make much of a difference, especially since America might not even have real elections anymore.
EarthGirl · 18-21, F
It's likely intended to replace the Republican party Trump has destroyed.

Thank Goodness. About damned time.

It's not a political party. He doesn't have the intelligence, discipline, or attention span to form and build a political party. It's super-PAC filled with his ill-gotten money.
The America Party use to be called the Democratic Party. I can hardly wait to see what all the new sameness will bring us!
