SW NERD CLUB

Post something nerdy you did or the nerdiest thing you ever did.
I used to wear suspenders and a bow tie to school.
And no, there was no dress code

I still think I was cool back then 😎
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Ghostinthemachine And her collection of companions didn’t work for me. The show could be an ensemble, but these guys weren’t very good. Someone told me the others all just stand around until it’s their turn to speak but don’t really do anything. After that I couldn’t unsee it.
@Straylight they ruined it for you 😂
@Ghostinthemachine adorable, superhero lol
Matt85 · 36-40, M
Built a full sized Dalek. I gave it away though.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@Jeephikelove It took me a year. Lots of wood and plastic resin!
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Matt85 Is there a picture?
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@Straylight I had some but they went down with my old computer. It was purple though.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have a PhD in math.

I have been teaching myself Latin, just because I think it's fun.

And since any self-respecting nerd has to have some ways in which he is utterly mal-adjusted socially: I have no idea who many of the celebrities are who get talked about on SW.
@DrWatson I can relate! If ever I met someone who said, “Do you know who I am?” I could say honestly, “No, I don’t. Don’t you?”

@Mamapolo2016
Allegedly a true story from the old airport in Denver: a major airline had cancelled a very busy flight and a lone check-in agent is busy trying to sort out all the displaced passengers. A very angry and aggressive man barges his way to the front of the queue to confront her. He says says that he is flying first class and demands to go on the flight.

The agent politely explains the situation and asks that people take their place in the queue. The man bellows at her, “Do you know who I am?” – at which the agent calmly picks up the microphone for the PA system, and announces to the airport, “This is (airline name) desk 64; we have a gentleman here who does not know who he is. If anyone can come and identify him please do so.” The man, now purple with rage, yells at her, “Well f**k you..” – to which the agent replies, “And you’ll have to stand in line for that as well, Sir.
@DrWatson Brilliant.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Every time my kids say “I tried or I’m trying”
I always respond with “Do or do not, there is no try”. 😁

GlitterEater · 36-40, F
Got a PhD in physics developing a new statistical technique that uses orthogonal functions to model invariant mass spectra collected at particle accelerators to search for new particles.
Penny · 46-50, F
@GlitterEater idk a PhD in physics... I think youve transcended nerdism
Straylight · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater I’ve reversed the polarity of the neutron flow. 😌

Penny · 46-50, F
@mindlessdrifter hmm youre either king of the nerd club or too cool to be nerdy. I cant decide
@Penny I will call myself the Prince of geeks, even the knave but definitely not the king Lol 😂
NickiHijab · F
I've breathed the same air Kali has, probably
Straylight · 31-35, F
The nerdiest thing I've done so far this month was to hack a Fisher-Price Wake Up and Learn "coffee mug" toy.

I ordered it for a toddler in the family; when it arrived my wife & I decided it was WAY TOO LOUD, enough to earn the animosity of the parents.

So I spliced in a 1KΩ audio taper potentiometer (volume control) so it could be dialed down. Hot melt glue attached it. As a nice bonus, I was able to align the shaft of the pot with a packaging mounting hole on the bottom so you can fit in a small screwdriver and don't have to crack it open to adjust the volume. If I were doing it all again I might order a 2K pot or one with an off switch for the times when complete silence is wanted.

Penny · 46-50, F
@ElwoodBlues very impressive lol
CultOfPersonality · 36-40, M
Have gone to several comic cons
CultOfPersonality · 36-40, M
@Jeephikelove it is the best, I heard once that most tickets sell out a year before the event
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@CultOfPersonality They sure do, it’s hard to get tickets.
CultOfPersonality · 36-40, M

I have a collection of around a thousand pop singles, going toughly from Eddie Cochran to Wham!. They all have stickers on the sleeves identifying the year of issue and an initial relating to the artist. If I want 'She Loves You' by the Beatles, I look under 63B.
@supersnipe do you also have a spreadsheet listing the year of release? 👀
supersnipe · 61-69, M
@NerdyPotato Now there's an idea! 🤓
Penny · 46-50, F
I alphabetized my cd collection.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@Penny I'll go you one better. I alphabetized my CD collection by artist, then under each artist, I organized them by the year released. I used to get so pissed when people would borrow my CDs and not put them back in order.
Penny · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire youre giving me ideas lol. Youre like the sensei of nerd club. Teach us master. Lol

I played Dungeons and Dragons in high school 40 years ago and still do with paper dice figurines and books. Yet I was a football player and high school wrestling champion too.

I honestly do not think it nerdy but cool and fun to do, but some call it nerdy!
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Straylight Soo much fun to use your mind and imagination playing this game.
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Straylight I still have all my original dice and second and third edition books too.
Straylight · 31-35, F
