why do modern people still believe in gods?

I don't believe in a God that rains down hell fire from the sky because someone got their cousin pregnant, but I do have a very strong faith that there is a creator of this universe even if Man wasn't created in its image. Whenever I meditate on this presence I can feel it.

There is a God and there are religions based on God. Whether you believe or not, ‘God’ exists.

I think it's because most people can't accept that when it's over it's over .Religion gives hope of life after death

Indoctrination by the older generation. They find it as source of morality for the people. The sad things about religions is they dictate to much on people's life while we have been evolved and moving forward. Not all of us want to have faith. It's started to the point annoying and ruining one's life.

They seemed to hold the life after the end. They scared of God's wrath like something like tsunami or earthquake, they gonna linked it with God's wrath.

Same reason you choose to not believe in Gods. They’re doing whatever works for them in life.

Excellent question that has been asked over the ages and still remains an unsolved mystery. Even the smartest of most of us still seem to seek some familiar "persona" of someone who will take care of us and hopefully, provide some kind of after life. Unfortunately, the majority of humankind thinks (wrongly) to have "god" on their side which runs deeply and stirs up extreme and maladaptive emotion.

We have but one chance for humankind to actually evolve and that is to take religion out of the equation. I don't see this happening in my lifetime. I feel badly for the youth of today who are going to suffer on account of inherited false belief.

Why cant modern people let go of the subject of God when everyone should be allowed to their beliefs and faith ??

I think a lot of it is indoctrination and environment. In a lot of areas if you don't believe you're out of the club. You'll be ostracized. In some countries it's even more extreme. But I also think there's an inherent fear of death, and hope for an afterlife, that 'gods' cover that some need. I've never had belief and I feel fortunate for that. But I also know there's lots of paths up the mountain. Pray to rock if you want. Just be a good person. But don't tell me to pray to a rock. Or make the lives of others worse because of your rock.

i love that most of the Greeks problems started because Zeus couldn't keep it in his pants. Odin and his paranoia and cool mythical weapons and battles. or RA literally fighting darkness every night just to bring a sunrise. :D

Religion is a complex subject. It's not just about a big man in the sky. People struggle to come to terms with death. They search for meaning and significance of life. Many people need a system of spirituality and morality.

Science can answer how, but it can't why. That's where philosophy, art and religion come in.

Even though I’m spiritual not religious not everyone believes God is some type of man in the sky, some people believe God is the energy that connects us to everything. Everything is connected by the energy of the Universe, when we die our energy returns to the universe to be recycled and used again.

The trend worldwide is toward less involvement in religion, but it's going to take a while for it to disappear completely.

The one true God, Yahweh, lives forever. It means that He was, and is, and forever will be all living.

So many people keep mistaking God for dog. It's a common affliction of the dith lek sick kind.
