why do modern people still believe in gods?

its obvious there is no god, we are just here, like cats and trees, nothing magical, no wierd rites or rules or funny clothes we have to wear, or other people to hate for no reason at all, and yet people still go on about gods,why?

The human mind can't fathom it all...

Same reason we have all kinds of crazy stupid conspiracy theories, that have long been proven pretty clearly wrong, and yet people keep pushing them as truth.
