Do you forgive people or remain resentful? Be honest

LilPrincess · 41-45, F
Not gonna lie...I have several people that I will never forgive.

My take on it is...I ain't Jesus and I dont have Alzheimer's🙄

@Notanymore nice song. Listening to it now. Thank ya
Notanymore · 36-40, M
@LilPrincess no problem.
AndysAttic · 56-60, M
That depends but, for most things forgiveness works...why go through life feeling bitter. Life is short and we need to make the most of it...
I forgive from the bottom of my heart but I never forget ….
AbbeyRhode · F
I forgive, and if the person is truly sorry, it's forgotten. If the person isn't sorry, and continues to be mean or hurtful, I will forgive, but I will also put them out of my mind and my life.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
forgiveness is great. forgetting is foolish.
Torsten · 36-40, M
100% resentful. I hold grudges like nothing else
Budwick · 70-79, M
I will never forgive Obama
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Depends. Some things are hard to forgive. And if the person continues to be nasty, there's not even space for forgiveness, imo.
If I forgive, I still won't forget and cease to be alert around them.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i remain resentful especially when I have been nothing but good to the person. It is hard for me to imagine how someone can be deliberately mean
pentacorn · F
i resent some very serious things. very serious. but i don't live in that mode
I forgive people! Even though they might not like me or they don’t forgive me.
Morrigan · F
I forgive, i would not give anyone the power to hold such shitty emotions over me
Genuine friends wouldn’t screw you over in the first place…

@SW-User yes exactly
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Most individuals, I forgive, but I may not want anymore contact with them. There are some people, entities, and agencies, so corrupt, evil, and cruel, that even though you have to put them on the back burner of your mind (so you can get on with life) the contempt never goes away.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
I've learned to let go of resent
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have done both.
pride49 · 31-35, M
I believe in second chances, even third. But after that, it's time for them to admit they are wrong for once. Tired of being the bigger person only to get burnt again. They need to prove they can be trustworthy
calicuz · 51-55, M
I forgive them, I just don't want them in my life anymore.
Obviously I was the blessing in their life, if it was the other way around I wouldn't have had to make a decision about them remaining in mine.
4meAndyou · F
I forgive. Sometimes it takes a couple of decades...but I forgive. I was just going to say that I don't forget...BUT...that was how I got through 25 years of marriage with the 3rd ex...partial amnesia.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Somewhere in the middle of those two... Staying resentful is a waste of emotional energy and i think blocks the fun gland from operating... Not resentful, but cautious
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
Forgive what can be forgiven, but a lot of things in like cannot be forgiven. So those people can fuck themselves with a rust covered cactus.
JestAJester · 31-35, M
Resentful. They had a chance to think about what they did before they did it and had a 2nd chance to rectify that mistake and didnt take it
SW-User
I can be forgiving but it depends on what happened, some people I will never forgive but lots do deserve my forgiveness once we’ve had a long talk about it.
acpguy · C
I definitely do not remain resentful but nor do I forgive their sorry asses. If bad enough I will just remove them from this planet.
BarbossasHusband · 36-40, M
I definately hold grudges despite trying not to. But I figure that's a me problem, so I usually manage to forgive anyway.
Ontheroad · M
After they have 3 strikes they are gone... no resentment, just gone and erased from my memory.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
I will NEVER forgive you for suggesting I may be dishonest!!!!!!!!!!!!!😄
Somexyz · 36-40
@ElRengo lol
ElRengo · 70-79, M
@Somexyz Yeah!
Fluffybull · F
Some things don't deserve forgiveness. I just cut them out of my life and forget about them.
I eventually work myself into forgiving. It takes me some time sometimes.
Notanymore · 36-40, M
I've found forgiveness is the best way to punish someone that does me wrong.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Never forgive, and never acknowledge them ever again
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
That may be my biggest flaw, I can't forgive or forget.
exexec · 61-69, C
Forgive, unless the person continues to do what is hurtful
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
With family, I love them from a firm safe distance.
SW-User
Depends. Sometimes it's a mixture of both.. For me
Tres13 · 51-55, M
God May Forgive You But I Won’t
TexChik · F
Depends on what the b*stard did! 😡

😂
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
Depends on the situation for me
It depends on what they did.

Honestly, I sometimes hold grudges, because I never forget.

But I’ve come to understand that it’s possible to "forgive" someone in terms of no longer feeling anger or wishing them harm.

That stops them from being able to live rent-free in one’s head. It doesn’t, however, mean you have to ever let them back into your life.

Resentful sounds grainy. I don't like that
empanadas · 31-35, M
If they hurt my family, they are dead to me. Anything else, I forgive and remember. I keep them at arms length
