No legacy is so rich as honesty.

— William Shakespeare

I think I try to practice this everyday. Far from perfect, but I do try. If it's one thing I want to be known for, it's being honest and kind.

But, hey, it's a tough world, and sometimes you gotta show your claws. Smh.
Always. I wasn't when I was younger and after I lost someone very important to me I changed. I started with first being honest with myself and then with everyone else. I lost people after that but it was an important life change.

Since then I've decided to just keep it that way bc tactful honesty is so much easier than keeping up with a bunch of deception and nonsense. It made my life so much easier and helps me get over myself faster.

@DancingStarGoddess True. Being honest isn't easy. Not exactly popular.
ABCDEF7 · M
Initially it tells you when you are not true to yourself. If you continue to ignore it, it will someday stop telling you. If you continue to listen and think over it and correct yourself after listening, it continues to tell you where you are going wrong.

So, I started to listen, and later tried to correct also. Now there are very less(almost no) instances when it makes me realise I am going wrong.

This doesn't mean, I can't lie to you or I will not hide something from you. I have a different approach towards that. But yes, I will not lie to hurt somebody.

@ABCDEF7 well said. Good soul. 🙏
ABCDEF7 · M
@Umile Thankyou. I am just trying to be better version of myself. And wish everyone should live superior life of themselves, that they really deserves. 🙏
i only lie to myself about how i look...never about how i am or what i can do
Umile · 41-45, F
@LILY61 Snap. Guess that's mostly everybody.
WillaKissing · 56-60
Yes! And I am 100% behind you all the way.
Umile · 41-45, F
@WillaKissing 💪 ♥
I seem to always call myself out on lying to myself. All day that other voice in my head is dying 'look what you did. we know the truth. liar. you know, youre not that clever. stop it. Its obvious. stop trying to fool ourself"
...Unless it's my lie I tell me where I praise myself a treat for doing something I hate. I let me believe that one.

I was my own worst critic...until I joined this site, seems there's one or two who don't like my opinions round these parts but that's ok nobody has yet come up with a good enough argument to make me question myself. Having said that I do enjoy the discussion (usually).
Umile · 41-45, F
@GeniUs Opinions are great when it has room for an open mind.
I'm more honest with myself than I see anyone else being with themselves. I do a lot of shadow work, which requires complete honesty and vulnerability. It's the only way to grow through my early-childhood trauma issues.
Umile · 41-45, F
@PhoenixPhail sounds impressive. Good for you. I'd love to be that aware. But, you know, when you're too aware and think too much ...
@Umile It IS good to stop thinking sometimes. That's what meditation is for.

It's good to be aware of your thoughts. It's the only way you can direct them so you can change your behaviors. Otherwise, you'll resort to default behaviors.
Umile · 41-45, F
@PhoenixPhail Kind of makes sense.
I could check every box and not be lieing on this one. I think I am generally. Certainly have my moments with the rest though, some is wanting the fantasies in my mind to be true
Umile · 41-45, F
@Justafantasy i can feel you on that one.
Julien · 36-40, M
That’s something you learned to do overtime as you grow older you can accept yourself for who you are with your flaws and sins .
Umile · 41-45, F
@Julien Truth.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
If their's something wrong in your life, don't blame others because the first port of call is one self to fix it
Umile · 41-45, F
@antonioioio My situation is different. But, generally, you are right.
Ferric67 · M
I'm honest with myself, but I will openly lie to myself to fit my narrative while knowing my destiny
Umile · 41-45, F
@Ferric67 I can feel you on that.

@OldMan70 On here, honest but not as open. Guess it's like that for me in real life. Although I am more open.

But even Shakespeare didn't know why H is silent in honesty .. when asked would he say onestly I don't know..?
SnailTeeth · 36-40
I don't believe in truth, just different frames of perspective.
Umile · 41-45, F
@SnailTeeth Yes. Everybody has their own perspective of truth.
Gringo · 46-50, M
For the most part. Doesn’t mean I like it

SW-User
@Umile That is very true
SW-User
Keeping in mind even 1% honesty fits then yes.
