It's called virtue signalling. People essentially think that having a position on a topic makes them noble warriors taking on some moral cause. It's just posturing masquerading as enlightened thought. Most people posting political content have no intentions of stimulating discussions or reaching solutions. They just want the feeling of moral superiority over less interested people.
It's like whenever some tragedy occurs and people slap a filter over their Facebook or Twitter picture. It's just a low-effort way of letting people know you're part of the solution without actually doing any of the mental or emotional work to make it happen

@SW-User Right, better than 90% of the other dumb crap people on here post.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@SW-User Unfortunately, all it really does it bring out the crazies.
As one who writes political posts ...
▪︎ There is no intent to change minds
▪︎ There is no intent to achieve readership
▪︎ There is no intent to irritate
▪︎ I write to express my thinking and appreciate the reflection of those I trust.
Then I reflect on that, which helps me with a lot of decisions and other writings I must do.

I am sure some of them are paid members of political parties.. They think if they post 100 anti this posts or anti that posts they can make people change their votes..
In the end the flood of political posts lead people to get irritated by the person and thus they are Less likely to vote the way the political activist wants them to vote..
There are also foreign governments who's nations are effected by who is elected in other countries.. So they will organize a posting campaign on the sites like these to try and influence the populace to vote the way that will be in the foreign governments interests..
But again if they flood sites with anti posts people will often react in the opposite way that the posters want's.. It's a self defeating effort in the long run..

i think they are looking for solidarity, for others to tell them that they also think the same and then it makes both more confident about what they think. people get so carried away when they're in a group of people who think the same thing they do.
I'm guessing the core, hardline groups on both sides can always be counted on to either rally around and rah rah rah or to counter and chant down. so maybe it's better to always have some engagement, even if it's 50% or more you calling someone else various names and the same from the opposition back. an interaction they can count on, as opposed to the wild hit/miss fluctuations that everything else can get. or not get, as the case may be.

Information can change people's minds.
Chaoshead · 22-25, M
@SW-User It can but the information discussed is not exactly.. scholarly studies. 😅Usually it's just their opinion on a well-known topic or sketchy youtube clips.

@SW-User Not likely. No one on either side believes anything the other side posts.

One of the lesser insane things here.

This place makes them feel important since it's so easy to post there's really no bar. Anywhere else they feel too small. I wish they would all kill themselves, then they would be useful as worm food.

There's not really a wrong answer, so everyone shouts at the top of their lungs how right they are? I don't get it either. 🤷♀️
