How Did You Handle Peer Pressure Growing Up?

I was stubborn and never gave in to peer pressure. I wasn’t interested in be part of a clique or group like that.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
I never crumbled under peer pressure. Wasn’t even tempted to. I was too afraid of my father to take the risk.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Pinkstarburst good for you! 🙌
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
@Primnproper I guess. I feel like I missed out on a lot though.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Pinkstarburst I know what you mean but I’m still kind of glad that I didn’t buy into it.
Umile · 41-45, F
Good on you, mami. Commendable.

When I was younger.

Nowadays, people don't faze me.

I'm probably the snitch that will call the police.

I'm not gonna just go with the crowd, especially if it's wrong.

Reason why I'm always hated and the target.

Too honest for my own good.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Umile I can understand all that.
i just went with the flow....
@beermeplease @Primnproper Sadly, if someone has already underlying issues, some Cannabis strains can exacerbate them, those with a major dominate sativa is usually to blame.
@NativePortlander1970 that's what i heard.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@beermeplease No, she didn't at all. After all the scans and the delcing into her past, that's what the specialists told her, and she herself noticed the change once she started.
I felt rebellious in the face of it. People trying to manipulate me always made me want to do the opposite even when it was something I might have wanted to do anyway. 😅 Silly.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Colonelmustardseed yes man! 👍
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
By refusing to be led, and becoming fierce enough that people tread lightly around me.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@blackarcher256 he sounded like a great man.
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
@Primnproper I’m biased of course, but I think he was. One of my retirement projects is going to be writing his biography. He was so many things: a Civil Rights pioneer before the time of MLK, a self taught engineer and inventor with 25+ patents. But he was also wise…scholarly….but also a physical force…immensely strong…and a fighter.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@blackarcher256 sounds like it would be a great book..
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
I didn’t really give in either, I was too scared of my mom. Having said that, I was also a bit of a bad girl all on my own. Never smoked or did drugs though.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Jeephikelove well done though for not smoking and drinking..
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I crumbled and followed until my life took a downward spiral. Drugs and alcohol were ruining me.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Degbeme but you got out?
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Primnproper I did with the help of my now wife who turned me around.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Degbeme awe.. that’s lovely.🤗
HumanEarth · 56-60
I don't know, everyone seems to follow me around.

Maybe I was the cool kid and I didn't know it

I just did my own thing and raised hell
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@HumanEarth ahhh..that’s on way around it..corrupt everyone else! 😆
windinhishair · 61-69, M
I handled it by focusing on sports and academics instead and relating to both jocks and nerds.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@windinhishair well done you 👏
pdockal · 56-60, M
Didn't necessarily feel any
Walked a different path then most & still do
Umile · 41-45, F
@pdockal you said that with pride. 👏 👏 👏
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@pdockal good for you!
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
We had a Sisterhood (or Sorority, as they call it in the USA) at the school I attended, and the only peer pressure we had was to become part of it. Once we joined it, it gave us freedom to be ourselves as long as we lived by the policies and principles of the Sisterhood.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@KarenisKenziesmum great if it worked for you.
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@Primnproper It worked for all of us. We still live by its policies and principles now in our adult life and we're all friends together.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I was never popular so,honestly wasn't pressured much.
I really never had a desire to take drugs or to drink to excess.
I saw how people acted and I didn't want to have any part of that.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Justmeraeagain I wasn’t popular, total opposite, they hated me.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Primnproper They lost out,then.❤️
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Justmeraeagain yep they never got to experience my awesomeness! 😂😂
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I never really felt pressure tbh. I loved school. I was a bit of a nerd by nature, so academics came easily. I was a pretty good athlete, so the cool clique liked me too.

There wasn’t really peer pressure to drink or get high because everyone did. We all had fun.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Adogslife You went with the flow then..lol
I never felt pressured lol
Wasn't even cool enough to get peer pressure from the geeks
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Justafantasy well that’s not true as I notice you pop up in my feed all the time and I recognise your username straight away. I know we’re not acquainted but that’s on me because I generally don’t add or message guys around here until we’re friends and then I’m not very good at it. I have my own self conscious issues that stop me communicating.
@Primnproper fair, I've got a few people I pm somewhat regularly. I've done the "getting overly attached online" thing and am pretty casual and relatively unconcerned about people's views of me online
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Justafantasy im not bothered about what anyone thinks of me, i know me and thats all that matters. Just dont like guys to think I'm chasing..lol
I was extremely shy, I didn't have any friends, thus no peer pressure
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@istillhaveanameitsrick kept you out of trouble..
I was a loner. So didn't have to worry about that. I honestly had just one person I'd consider a friend growing up
ThickMadame · 51-55, F
I was that weird shy kid that everyone just left alone
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@ThickMadame awe..least you did.🙂
BatmanIRL · T
I didn’t have friends to do that🤷‍♀️
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@BatmanIRL not just friends did it, bullies would goad you too.
BatmanIRL · T
@Primnproper I had that but I thought that was more bullying than peer pressure
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@BatmanIRL yeah I guess..👍
exexec · 61-69, C
It never affected me. I wasn't cool, but people liked me anyway.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@exexec you were lucky then.
It meant almost nothing to me.

I was the king of the outsiders. lol
I never have. I was a good kid. 😬
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@mindstruggle awe..thats great..I always just wanna give you a big hug when i see your avatar.🤗
Jarffff · 46-50
If it involved skipping class i was game!!
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Jarffff ummmm! Naughty boy! 😁
Ferric67 · M
Ignored it

Still do actually
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Ferric67 good for you!
Houdini · 56-60, M
I never had any to be fair.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Houdini good for you.
I had been excluded by the other kids for enough of my childhood that I never really needed their approval. So the upside was, most of the silly stuff like dares, etc. that got my classmates in trouble, I avoided.

"If you don’t lick that chair seat, you’re a coward !"
"Guess I’m a coward, then. But I don’t care. So now what ?" 🤨
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard yep that was me too..lol. 👍
I was apart of so many cliques, I never even noticed 😅

@Bang5luts I wasn't scared to experiment.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Bang5luts 😁
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I didn’t give in. I wouldn’t try smoking, I wouldn’t do drugs, I wouldn’t drink because my parents were alcoholics.

I don’t follow people.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@iamonfire696 geez we're like sisters! 🤗
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@windinhishair I am sorry you went through that.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F

Primnproper · 56-60, F
@WillaKissing yep see now me I wouldn’t have even been around the stuff.. lol
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Primnproper I thought it was a good example of not caving in and rolling with the peers for me.

Like you I was not around it, I just made those that were to get away from me with it even i their own homes. Sorry I miss read your reply.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@WillaKissing no I think what you did was great. Like you I would have been the sensible head and kids hated that about me.
