I once heard it said that “A good general never leads a battle he cannot possibly win. Otherwise, he fights until his very last breath.”
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@FreakLikeMe a good point..

SW-User
When not giving up is tearing you down.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SW-User Yes I’ve been there and it’s soul destroying.
Yes : this says it all …

God grant me
SERENITY
to accept things
I cannot change
COURAGE
to change the
things I can and
WISDOM
to know the difference

Amen …
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Soossie thank you special lady for the reminder..🤗
@Primnproper

Much love 💕
When there's no path forward and the only thing that can be accomplished by not giving up receiving more pain.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@MrBlueGuy so very true..I’ve been down that road..
AbbeyRhode · F
Yes, when you know that what you are are hoping to do just isn't going to happen.

Primnproper · 56-60, F
@AbbeyRhode I totally agree with this!👍
Fluffybull · F
Yes. When you give up on a toxic relationship and move on. 👍
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Fluffybull yep done that👍
exexec · 70-79, C
Yes. I had a boss that was totally against me and was trying to make my life miserable. I finally gave up and resigned. I was at peace, found a better job with good people, and saw my wife bear our second child two weeks later. Postscript: The boss resigned a few weeks later and was investigated for embezzlement.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@exexec you made the right decision when to walk away..👍
exexec · 70-79, C
@Primnproper I was a lot happier and happy to never see or hear from him again.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@exexec I love a good outcome story!
Houdini · 56-60, M
I somethings I would say yes sometimes you just can’t do anything about it. But personally I never give up but then again I’m very stubborn
Houdini · 56-60, M
@Primnproper Lou would 😂
Houdini · 56-60, M
@Primnproper that came out wrong lol. You would understand
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Houdini 😁
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M

Primnproper · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 well I’m back ! To annoy everyone!🤗
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M

ArtieKat · M
One step back to take 2 forward perhaps....
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@ArtieKat ok yeah I get that!👍
robertsnj · 56-60, M
you ask great qestions on here. I think most of us are self vicitim of sunk cost fallacy at various times.

i had jobs where i stuck around longer thank i should have absolutely had friendships that i hung on for to for too long.

many of us will be on a deathbed one day and uphill battle will be really steep but that is a tough one because once you are gone you are gone forever.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@robertsnj thank you..it’s good to be thought provoking sometimes and crazy at others! 😁 I’m sure many can relate to your answer.
Yes. When the votes have been certified locally and by the states, recounted, you have exhausted your avenues of appeal in the courts, and the Congress has counted and verified the electoral vote.

No, no particular events in mind...

Pfuzylogic · M
When keeping course threatens the ones you love.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Pfuzylogic That’s true..👍
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I think so. Continuing to hold onto unrealistic hopes can be emotionally devastating.

On the other hand, it is not always easy to know where to draw the line between being too quick to give up and being too stubborn not to. I think @Soossie's comment says it best.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@DrWatson I understand what you’re saying completely. I’ve been stubborn before instead of drawing the line and the only one to get hurt was myself..
SW-User
When you're going up against me.... 👀I'm just unbeatable
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SW-User nobodies unbeatable JT it just takes time to find their Achilles heel..😉
SW-User
@Primnproper You'll have to wait until I'm dead.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@SW-User no I won’t..I’ll have my eyes on you everywhere, you will reveal yourself. They always do.😁
ABCDEF7 · M
"When nails grow long, we cut nails not fingers. Similarly when misunderstanding grow up, cut your ego, not your relationship."

Give up your ego, not the relationship.
calicuz · 56-60, M
Yes, on people who just won't listen to reason, One can only repeat themselves so many times.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@calicuz Totally true..
Aysel · F
Please let me know when you find out, as I have a really difficult time giving up.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Aysel I think it’s when you know or admit you are fighting a lost cause. Some battles and obstacles can’t be won or gotten over and we need to recognise when that’s the case.
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Primnproper sometimes when things get heated rather than esculate the situation
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@smiler2012 yes backing off and having space can definitely defuse situations.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
On life, no.

ABCDEF7 · M
@Roundandroundwego For many, giving up will be giving their life.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Roundandroundwego well I guess that’s a matter of opinion and for discussion.
antonioioio · 70-79, M

When or you end up bedridden and unable to do anything for yourself
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@antonioioio i know what you mean.
Umile · 41-45, F

Sometimes you win in letting go.

Some people/situations are just not worth it.

@CheezeburgerBrown the latter must not be an option my friend. Reach out if you need help. I kept my best friend on the phone all night in USA to stop him doing that when he was battling alcohol an I’m in the UK.. He’s now sober 6 yrs and living his best life. So anything is possible. Here if you need a friend.🤗
CheezeburgerBrown · 36-40, M
@Primnproper I’m going on almost 300 days sober myself so yes .. you are right 🙏
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@CheezeburgerBrown that’s amazing! Well done you 👏 always around to support. 🤗
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
Yes….There are times when the cost of hanging on will destroy you.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Sometimes you just have to give up on people even if it hurts so badly
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Primnproper you’re right, it hurts so badly but we have to look out for ourselves.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@iamonfire696 Sometimes you don’t see how toxic it was to yourself till you’re out of it and looking back.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Primnproper you’re so right

@Darksideinthenight2 this is not in relation to a specific issue, it’s just a general question.
Every time I felt like giving up I digged in deeper and pushed harder, I'm Gen X, we refuse ro give up.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@NativePortlander1970 I know that feeling well.👍
