To its mother, Yes. Parents are hardwired to respond.. But once you deal with all the babies possibly needs and they are still not settling, because they just dont want to, its time to let them adapt..😷

@OogieBoogie Your second last line is the key. Weaning is the gentle withdrawing of what you have become reliant on and that causes some distress..😷

@OogieBoogie yup yup yup

@whowasthatmaskedman yes...weaning :
GENTLE withdrawal....NO distress .
Weaning isn't the same thing as withdrawal. It's a slow detaching from something ....usually by replacing that something with something else .

I get this advice all the time and it’s like yo, what about the sake of everybody’s else’s ears? nobody else should have to listen to him cry it out 😅

SW-User

Yah thats horrible :(
Crying is just fine for babies to a certain extent.
Parents can't spoil them by giving immediate attention ALL the time.

Livingwell · 61-69, M
It doesn't work either.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
It really is and most people that say that have no children of there own. So they dont understand how hard it is for a mothere to just let her baby cry

@SW-User at that age we were pretty much holding them all the time anyway. (twins)

SW-User
@GerOttman twins must’ve been a challenge!!🥹
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User "challenge.." I like that word! It was an interesting experience to say the least. first few months are kind of a blur.
Jstbanannas1991 · 31-35, F

Flowergirl32 · 31-35, F

Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Crying is actually good for lungs but then unnecessary letting baby cry is cruel
OogieBoogie · F
It is
it's a total bullshit saying .
Baby's cry for a reason ....it's their only way to communicate distress.
You NEVER let the baby cry.
This is why we have so many narcissists, BPD, emotionally disassociative or maladjusted individuals these days: trauma from being neglected as a toddler or younger .

@SW-User sadly .you are one of too many.
This was a terrible parenting technique handed down through generations.
Even I was given this advice from my mother in law ....whose own children grew up with terrible ego and identity issues ... bar the middle child .it's a brutal way to parent .
Not even chips or gorillas do it .
