To its mother, Yes. Parents are hardwired to respond.. But once you deal with all the babies possibly needs and they are still not settling, because they just dont want to, its time to let them adapt..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman no...it's not.
A babys only form of communicating distress is to cry .
If you have done everything and it's still crying ...it's time to get help.
Imagine giving up and laying a baby down only to have it die from asthma or a burst appendix or something .
No....if it's crying ....it's for a reason.
Not to mention fear of being alone .
It's entire existence it had been connected to it's mother: feeling her, hearing her , being wrapped in her .
And suddenly it's ripped from her body and needs to aclimatise to being alone.
It's a shock. And it needs transition and gentle weaning from her.
Leaving a child to cry alone is psychologically damaging .

@OogieBoogie Your second last line is the key. Weaning is the gentle withdrawing of what you have become reliant on and that causes some distress..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman yes...weaning :
GENTLE withdrawal....NO distress .
Weaning isn't the same thing as withdrawal. It's a slow detaching from something ....usually by replacing that something with something else .
