If someone asks me not to do so,then I won't, but I confess,
I often call anyone under 30, sweetie just a habit,I'm not trying to be insensitive.

However ,I can understand especially ,if a man is being all syrupy around you, that can be creepy.
I was young once, too and had a few creepies buzz about.

Those can be hit and miss - I don't mind them, but you need to make sure someone is comfortable with it before you use one.
I don’t like them from strangers. Even from those I know in rl we have to be fairly close; although from a few people here who have been friends I don’t mind at all.

yep if someone uses one with me without permission it’s a block or silent treatment in real life

From loved ones I love them, from strangers I find them ick and patronising

My Grandmother once told me she called everyone Dear so they would not notice she could not remember their names.

I like "Love" and "Darling" from my husband, and use those with him too, including the Danish "Skat" which is the one that like 80% of couples use with each other in Denmark. I also sometimes use pet names with friends or people online, if they said something really sweet to me, to show gratitude. 😸
😆 One of my favorite things about traveling for work was the southern states, and all the waitresses calling me Honey. 😍 EVERYONE, says good morning!! I mean everyone! If you don't reply they might ask you why.😆 We don't do that in cali.

I don’t think my GF and I have used each others first names since we started dating…babe, baby, darling, sweetness, sugar pea, baby girl…anything but each others real names 😂

I love being called them and calling people them. Can get a little confusing though when I call both my boyfriend and my father "daddy"
squared · 26-30, M
usually i just stick to babe but one time i was gonna say “love” or “babe” and ended up saying “blove” and that word has been in our vocabulary since lol
SUPERVlXEN · F
That's all depending on the context. I love getting them by someone I'm intimate with but not at all by strangers.
I call women terms of endearment and I have been known to occasionally use "son" with younger men... That was met with a lot of protest. 😂

Especially on the first meeting or introduction
Depends on who is saying it

To those I care about they flow like the Amazon river…to strangers it DONT happen
I don't hate them or particularly like them.
What about "Chika"? Is that a pet name?
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Awwwww I think they’re cute.
I think they are nice

@SeekingConnection That's not a very nice thing to say sweetheart!!
@SeekingConnection Yes, surely you could express your views more gently, sweetie???
Supposing they're... innovative? Singular?

Sure am glad I don't shit all over myself over such insignificant matters
swirlie · F
Every boyfriend I've ever had would always call me "Rover" at first until I finally put my foot down and told them to call me by my first name, which is "Lassie".
