Yes fortunately that's not quite the truth. Ive chnaged my mind on a few things over th emonths and years thanks to social media - its made me a naughtier and naughtier person mind.
"Each other"? I know you're trying to be fair about this, but you'll have to find another way, because I think you'll find the petty insults flow an awful lot more in 1 direction than the other
Nah, not really. If this was true political parties of pretty much every country on this world wouldn't spend actual money in bots, trollfarms, media outlets and so forth.
Political and religious discussions happening on social media now, or on TV and radio channels before, do definitely shape the political/religious landscape of a country.
@Fishy I can understand that, but also be aware that apathy is something that anyone who's interested in preserving the current status quo or even worse regressing to a previous status quo (i.e. authoritarianism) wants to push in the general population.
That's how you win an election when your ideas can barely get you a 20-30% of votes. Your country does better than mine to contrast this, e.g. making voting mandatory for every enfranchised citizen as far as I know, but even that is far from bulletproof.
I'm glad the one who argued with me did it, he also did it politely, and patiently without attacking me, gave me time to reflect and never rushed me or poked me for my delayed responses.
@Fishy yeah he wanted me to think and get to the conclusion on my own terms and pace. Unlike all these people (atheists or theists alike) who just wanna prove their righteousness and superiority.
One study seems to show that if you are a leftist, you can't use the Internet to influence anyone's politics. In fact, just seeing a liberal or leftist post makes the conservatives more violent and more conservative. The Internet is only good for the right.

It’s useless , so I don’t , it’s like trying to convert someone to Jeovah’s Witnesses
@Fishy All i know is that if when they ask "do you have a minute to talk about Jesus?" you answer "in this household we venerate only Jupiter" they tend to leave
You're absolutely entitled to stay out of the political arguments if you like. However, I would submit that second picture isn't 100% accurate. I've seen people change their minds. It's rare, but it happens. Mostly and the people who haven't decided which side to take yet.
@LordShadowfire I've noticed it doesn't seem to happen that much in arguments tho, At least not the heated arguments. From what I can see, that's when people dig their heels in more
@deadgerbil I'm part sephardic ☠️ I forgot about that. All I'm missing is being a potato lover and my presence alone would cause a KKK member to burst a blood vessel.
