Ugh! Forgot to mention that the day after I stepped on a bumble bee and got stung on my right instep I did it again but this time it was my left big toe. Neither are painful but they are itching more now than when it happened. I inspected the sites before I got out of bed and they are slightly redder than the surrounding skin. It's quite annoying and made it harder to get to sleep last night.

Does anyone know how long this takes to fade away? Is there likely to be anything at the chemist that I can apply to reduce it?

Bought a Central Fife Day Rider bus ticket and went to Leven. The town has a nice beach but today there's a stiff easterly breeze and it's only about 15 C with almost total cloud cover.

Having a cheese and onion toastie with a mocha in Café Hanarela near the bus station.

The mocha tastes quite good but is really just a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso mixed in. The toastie is nice and came with a hash brown, coleslaw, and salad dressed with balsamic vinegar which made a pleasant change.

The young woman, girl really, who brought my food complimented me on my dress.

First, fid you manage to remove the stings? Second wash and clean the area. Third apply a cold compress. Fourth take some Ibuprofen, or similar pain relief, and some antihistamines. Do not scratch!
Hydrocortisone cream or Calamine lotion can help with swelling.

@22Michelle I've decided to just live with it for now. It only bothered me last night. It seems that if I keep moving it doesn't bother me. As for the sting I couldn't find it and the bee flew off on both occasions so I'm not sure it really got far in.

@ninalanyon If the bees flew off it's unlikely the sting went far in as usually stinging means a dead bee.

Back in my room having a supper of red wine and strawberries after a soak in the bath to get warmed up after the damp and windy trip to Leven and Kirkcaldy. I think living in dry eastern Norway for such a long time has made me soft! 14 C back home is T-shirt weather but here with the wind and the damp it felt ten degrees colder.

Here are pictures of and from the beach at Leven

Looking north east along the prom

I walked out to the water and looked back at the prom

I wasn't the only one enjoying the beach

And as seen in my selfies there is an artwork on the seawall. Either quite recent or painted with weather resistant paint

This is what the weather does

I arrived at the bus stop in Glenrothes about twenty minutes early so I wandered in to the Kingdom Shopping Centre. On the way I noticed a Salvation Army charity shop that I hadn't seen before because it was around a corner.

Went in and had a look around. Found a size 38 (European size, UK size 10 think) grey miniskirt that was a bit shorter than usual. I was about to sigh and leave it on rail when I realized that it looked wider than most of that nominal size. Took it to the changing room and tried it on. It fits perfectly. Sizing of clothes is idiotic. Why not just mark them with the critical dimensions?

Lavender essential oil is very soothing and better mix it with another oil before applying straight onto the skin. 3-5 days it's going to be irritating I think and then mildly fade..

If you ever get a sting, ingrown hair, splinter etc...make a simple poultice of 50/50 old fashioned bar soap mixed with white sugar. Apply and cover with a plaster and it draws out any foreign object and infection.
@ninalanyon Whatever

@NativePortlander1970 it's better than hopping around on one leg!! A relative in Australia died from a bee sting in a few mins, so you have to be careful
@meggie (((((HUGS))))) I am so very sorry :( I have a cousin that's alergic, he carries an epi.

I walked back along the prom toward the town centre and spotted a small and neatly planted park.

It looks like just a municipal park, nicely made but with no meaning beyond the ordinarily wonderful celebration of life in general

But in fact it is also a commemorative park

In the park is an analemmatic sundial. I couldn't tell them time because there was absolutely no direct sunlight, not a hint of a shadow. I haven't yet found one in sunny weather. There is one in Stratford-upon-Avon and another in Newquay.

Looking back towards the entrance

Then in the corner a more recent memorial to the Polish 1st Parachute Brigade

Let's hope there is never a need for another.

Now in rainy and rundown Kirkcaldy where I have found a little bar called Krafty. I'm having a 2/3rds pint of Tartarus Cactus Cat, a kind of sour IPA.

Back on the prom I found a large Scottie dog

Very painful and annoying
Lasts about two weeks
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@turbineman40 This isn't painful. It's just mildly irritating if I wake up in the middle of the night. Less so last night than earlier so I think it is already on the wane.

Things that caught my eye while walking around Leven

Get some liquid anbesol, the tooth pain stuff, it worked wonders numbing my right foot big toe when I got bitten by a fire ant back in 2003.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@NativePortlander1970 Thanks. Not sure we have that here though.
@ninalanyon Even the regular tooth and gum pain gel should work, but the liquid absorbs better.
