Ugh! Forgot to mention that the day after I stepped on a bumble bee and got stung on my right instep I did it again but this time it was my left big toe. Neither are painful but they are itching more now than when it happened. I inspected the sites before I got out of bed and they are slightly redder than the surrounding skin. It's quite annoying and made it harder to get to sleep last night.

Does anyone know how long this takes to fade away? Is there likely to be anything at the chemist that I can apply to reduce it?

I walked back along the prom toward the town centre and spotted a small and neatly planted park.

It looks like just a municipal park, nicely made but with no meaning beyond the ordinarily wonderful celebration of life in general

But in fact it is also a commemorative park

In the park is an analemmatic sundial. I couldn't tell them time because there was absolutely no direct sunlight, not a hint of a shadow. I haven't yet found one in sunny weather. There is one in Stratford-upon-Avon and another in Newquay.

Looking back towards the entrance

Then in the corner a more recent memorial to the Polish 1st Parachute Brigade

Let's hope there is never a need for another.
