Yes, humans abuse and destroy everything. Take humans out of the equation and the world/earth would be beautiful once again as it was in the beginning.

The democrat party only chose to ban tik tok because they could not control it's narrative. The owners chose to allow it to be a free speech platform for either side to express their opinions/findings.

The same thing happened with Elon Musk's X... They also threatened that if they could not take it away for themselves they would simply shut it down until they could. But they went the extra mile with him. Claiming they would take Tesla and all his companies that he owns.

I believe there will come a day that things aren't necessarily banned. But they're taken over with a single sided narrative. Though I believe we wont see that for at least 12 years. Hopefully longer though. But they've basically stated their intentions with it. Very loud and clear. If they can't control it, they don't want you to have access to it. This is the problem with "Big government" they continue to diminish your freedoms over everything, to the point you don't have a say or a choice in the matter.

It more or less happens in some authoritarian countries (China, Russia) and they achieve that on the back of a perverted understanding of patriotism which means you must only listen to your leaders.

But even states like Montana have passed, or are considering laws that limit access by minors - which is reasonable considering how easily they're manipulated by tracking algorythms used by ruthless tech developers.

But the harm done to adult platform users is just as bad. Personal privacy, human dignity, and reliable information are compromised every day to put more money into the pockets of a few greedy billionares.

Social media and the internet as a whole needs to be regulated like a public utility.

Maybe they should do a temporarily ban and just give it all a rest for a bit.

The ban on the TickingTock is more about who owns it than content.

They wont ban social media.. It is too good a tool to keep watch on people and what they think when their guard is down, so you know who to monitor more closely. Of course, troublemakers can be banned individiually..Thats how it is done...😷
