VIP’s can see downvotes now on their own posts

I think it will make things worse. Something doesn't seem right about having to pay to see who your haters are. Could be this was the plan all along ? Make more money by encourageing people to buy vip?

If I had any tendency to downvote content I find disgusting enough to do that, I would not mind at all who could see that I did. On the last similar site I joined and participated on, downvotes were anonymous for quite a while. When the administrators of that site presented their consideration of allowing members to see who downvoted their content, there was a great uproar from a lot users...about "betrayal" and such. Many 'members' expressing outrage, had rarely or seldom seen usernames.

When the current and past downvotes did become no longer "anonymous", it was clear to see to why some were outraged at the idea. It was illuminating to see and know how very petty they were...downvoting songs and other innocuous comments and replies, just for spite.

I just saw this when I reacted to a post today. I’m not surprised that they made it a VIP feature, but it does defeat what the admins stated their intention for the feature was in the first place.

I’ve only ever given one DV, and that was on a post asking for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Even better, I'll focus on downvoting those who have VIP the most 😏

I don't down vote. If I'm not a fan of something posted I just move along. There are other things I can spend my time on. To each their own in my opinion.

So that's weird. They put in this feature and publicize that it'll be anonymous. Now suddenly VIPs can see them, but I don't remember seeing an announcement on this. It almost seems they're looking to create conflict.

There was already a way to see who your most persistent downvoter was.

And it was by being your own most persistent downvoter.

You can then see it visible as the reaction left in your own thread.

And that was without VIP.

Bottom of line, if you're self-hater, you get the same priviliges since forever

Yes, Andrew announced this change was coming a week or so ago. I think it's a good move since they're keeping it. I've only used it 2 or 3 times and the person(s) knew it was me,🧐that's the way it should be.

I will still but I do it rarely and mostly on creeps posts or stuff I dislike.

I think the downvote thing should be a reaction just like any other of them. If I don't like something and I use it, then I'll tell you why.

I don't see the big deal why it has so much controversy behind it.

I do not use nor care about the DV button. I do not hide behind blocking, reporting, DV, or any of that.

I never do. But knowing that still doesn't convince me to pay for that which is free.

Forgive me on this, but to me it just appears to be a tool to be used for people to become catty. But if the website benefits from it in some way, well, good job.
