I was told to get out of my local grocery store yesterday….

Tiny little overpriced grocery store in my tiny little town.
Long story short, I went in to pick up some food from their deli for an unexpected visit from out of town family. Deli guy was incredibly rude to me the entire time. Then this happened.
🤷🏻‍♀️

@jshm2 Yes. It’s a well known fact how lucrative the deli worker profession is in a small town. His time was clearly worth more than mine. 🤷🏻‍♀️
@QueenOfTheNerds I'm telling you, customers clearly make this man unhappy, so you should tell everybody in town to help make him happy.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire I don’t think he was cut out to work with people.
how rude can one get at a deli whether it's a customer or server?.... "can i get 300 grams of black forest ham please you freaking a'hole".... is that how you ordered when the dude told you to get out?
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@beermeplease Maybe I should have! 😂
Livingwell · 61-69, M
Dude! I'd be pissed and call the manager. They can't afford to lose customers. And one jerk can ruin a reputation. Especially in a small town.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@Livingwell I did make the store manager aware of the situation before I left. I also gave her my business card and cell phone to pass along to her boss.
SW-User
How on earth could someone want to do that to you?! That's ridiculous
SW-User
@QueenOfTheNerds maybe they were having a breakdown
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@SW-User That’s what I wondered, too. Maybe he was just having a rough day and I was the lucky customer to come in at the wrong time. He was perfectly fine with other customers, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️
SW-User
@QueenOfTheNerds maybe your royal status intimidated him.
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
I would have been like alright. Then I would never shop there again and tell everyone I know not to shop there. It cost them business.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@MrSmooTh I don’t have a problem with the business itself. It’s just a small family owned business. The employee seems to be the problem. Hopefully the management there will resolve that problem.
Blondily · F
What exactly happened tho? What did you say to him that provoked him?🤔
@QueenOfTheNerds A younger millennial, I think that says everything right there.
@QueenOfTheNerds My generational peers really screwed the pooch raising them.
@QueenOfTheNerds I will say if you do start leaving bad reviews, mention him by either name or description. He'll hate you, but by the sound of things, that ship has sailed, lol.

@HannahSky NO MEAT FOR YOU! COME BACK IN ONE YEAR!
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
HannahSky · F
@QueenOfTheNerds exactly 😂
did you ask if he would cut your hot dogs in to one inch pieces,
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Take your store and park it where the sun don`t shine.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@QueenOfTheNerds 😞sorry you where treated in such a rude and shabby fashion and when you get spoken too in that fashion it will be only a matter of time before his business goes bust if hehas that attitude towards his customers
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@smiler2012 It’s not even “his” store. He just makes the deli food. 🤷🏻‍♀️
smiler2012 · 56-60
@QueenOfTheNerds well i think you need to have a word then with whose store it is as with an attitude like that trade will diminish fast
Pfuzylogic · M
What I think was unprofessional on his part was that he talked to other customers about you while you were waiting,
Pfuzylogic · M
@QueenOfTheNerds I have never seen an employee of a business tell a customer that they are lying.
That borders on slander.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@Pfuzylogic I really do hope they have a camera in that area with sound. The whole thing was just weird.
NubbinC · 46-50, M
@QueenOfTheNerds For an entire prepared meal, if they offer that service, you'd have to expect to pre-order, but if you were buying meat, cheese, and salad by the pound, it would be crazy to have to pre-order or to accuse someone of lying about having been told that before.

Even if he was having a bad day for something unrelated to you, there's no excuse for intentional rudeness, none, ever.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
You should go in and say to the owner " I spoke to the owner yesterday and he wasn't very happy with me etc " then it'll awkward and embarrassing af for Mr "get out of my store" 🤣
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
That's just awful. You need to contact customer service or file a complaint with the grocery store's management.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@Barefooter25 It’s just a small, independently owned family store. I’ve been going there my entire life. There aren’t that many “higher ups” to go through. I did notify the store manager, though.
InHeaven · F
Wow. Maybe a girlfriend dumped him that looked like you n he just took it out on you 🤔🤔
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@InHeaven Who knows. 🤷🏻‍♀️
InHeaven · F
@QueenOfTheNerds ya, he is definitely going through something, and if you look like his “female enemy” he will feel better taking it out on you, if he can’t fight back the other person. This happens often and happened to me too
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
That sounds so stressful and awkward I would die
Sorry that happened to you🫂
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@JRVanguard It really was. It was a very weird experience.
I would be straight on to Yelp and Google reviews
@Ozymandiaz I got a guy fired from a 7-Eleven doing that once.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@Ozymandiaz I did speak to the store manager before I left and I left her my business card and cell number to pass along. I don’t want to over-Karen the situation. The whole population of the town where I live is 1,700 people, and I’ve lived basically here my whole life.
@QueenOfTheNerds It sounds like you handled it with decorum. Always the best way to do things.
Ontheroad · M
That's rude... what was his problem? Other than being a jerk.
Dshhh · M
did he turn down your money?

is this in the US?
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@Dshhh Yes he did, and yes it was.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Not worth ever going back there, I reckon
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@caPnAhab Agreed.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Whoa. What the heck was his problem?
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@cherokeepatti I’m not sure. Maybe my order was just the last straw in a rough day for him. He was perfectly peachy with other customers, though.
BeepBeep · F
Fuck, him, take your business somewhere else
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Oh my gosh! That sounds awful.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
just wait it out

this has actually happened to me a number of times and it's usually some stupid pissant
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
You don't even know why?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@QueenOfTheNerds He is acting like he owns that store. That very well could get him fired because in a small town word gets out quickly and customers may find other ways to get what they want in groceries.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@cherokeepatti I don’t think most people actually do their grocery shopping there. They’re way more expensive than if you make the drive to a bigger town and a bigger store. It is convenient to have for odds and ends that you need, though. I know the manager rolled her eyes when I told her what he said. She didn’t seem surprised.
Odds are that if he lives around here, I know his mama and most of his family.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@QueenOfTheNerds And she did nothing. What about the owner? He needs to know about this.
WellFrog · 56-60, M
Well that is dreadful!
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@CountScrofula I know! It was just so weird.
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@deadgerbil Exactly. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ironhand · 51-55, M
He needs to clean the dirt off his face, and lose some weight chubmeister
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@mindlessdrifter He did look a lot like the Simpsons character in the gif. Just less Simpson-y.
@QueenOfTheNerds Still, that attitude should have gotten him fired
justcurious2019 · 26-30, M
did you email the owner?
i would start some shit.
Why specifically were you told to leave? What's their side of the story?
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@BlueGreenGrey No. He had it all packaged up, except for the chicken, which was still cooking. He hadn’t handed me any of it before telling me to get out.
@QueenOfTheNerds that sounds fucked up

what did the store manager say?

is there anyone above the store manager? I'd probably be calling them back
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@BlueGreenGrey She didn’t seem very surprised. She said she would pass my contact info along to her boss, who I assume is the owner.
Clearly, customers make him unhappy. You should make him happy.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
That’s terrible, I am so sorry.
I have seen stores get closed from boycotts over shit like this.
