I was told to get out of my local grocery store yesterday….

Tiny little overpriced grocery store in my tiny little town.
Long story short, I went in to pick up some food from their deli for an unexpected visit from out of town family. Deli guy was incredibly rude to me the entire time. Then this happened.

What exactly happened tho? What did you say to him that provoked him?🤔

@Blondily
I didn’t call ahead for chicken. Even though I have never called ahead for chicken, or been told that was a requirement. I was fully prepared to wait for the order, and I did. It wasn’t until the order was ready that he told me to get out of “his” store.
While waiting, I overheard him from another aisle talking to other customers about me not calling in, saying that I got “huffy” with him. He said I was lying about not calling in all of the other times I’ve picked up chicken.
Just a very, very odd interaction altogether.

@QueenOfTheNerds What an ass!
I hope you don't go back and leave a bad review!

@Blondily The thing is that it’s a tiny little family owned grocery store. He doesn’t own it. He just works there. I have nothing against the grocery store- I’ve been going there my whole life. I don’t plan on going back in the foreseeable future, but I wouldn’t want to leave the store a bad review because one employee has no business working with people.
I do hope they have it all on video. It was so bizarre.
@QueenOfTheNerds Just one negative review in a small store in a small town should be enough to warrant a reprimand, a possible write up, or even termination of employment, speaking as a former retail and food service manager myself.

@NativePortlander1970 But as a business owner, myself, I know that a bad review because of one customer interaction with a bad employee would be bad for business. I’d rather deal with the management personally and privately. Maybe if that doesn’t work, I will resort to leaving reviews.
@QueenOfTheNerds With my managerial experience, any employee with an attitude like his means that it is likely that you're not the only one he has gone off at, plus gossiping to other patrons about you reflects very poorly on the store owners allowing such an employee to be working there. Out of curiosity, what is the estimated age of the deli worker?
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
@NativePortlander1970 I’d guess he was early to mid 30s.
@QueenOfTheNerds A younger millennial, I think that says everything right there.
@QueenOfTheNerds My generational peers really screwed the pooch raising them.
@QueenOfTheNerds I will say if you do start leaving bad reviews, mention him by either name or description. He'll hate you, but by the sound of things, that ship has sailed, lol.
