What’s the most expensive piece of clothing you ever bought? How much was it?

(Aside from maybe your own wedding attire)

CoffeeBean · 31-35, F
I’m not proud, but a $400 embroidered capelet coat 😍 and It’s still one of my favorite pieces.
kimmy159 · F
@CoffeeBean Some pieces are worth it ;) especially if you really really like them haha
Leather pants for about $600
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
@FreeSpirit1 pictures or it didn’t happen 😜
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
I get my suits made to measure. They're around $1500, but they fit perfectly and last a long time.
@Harmonium1923 Excellent observation! Worth the expense.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
Prom dress 99 dollars. I was the ONLY one in that color too. Felt very pretty
My military uniforms. Paid for them in blood and tears
Never been married.

Hmmmmm I dunno though as time goes by..

Some things I buy are not that expensive, some are middle priced and some are a bit more..

Maybe a coat or a new good swimming costume, depends where you buy things from aswell and the kind of product/material.

reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
my jacket was over 800 $, its my second one, I forgot the other one in a plane in Peru. (the one on the picture is the one I lost )
kimmy159 · F
@reflectingmonkey Sorry you lost it, good that you could buy another one, it looks quite comfy and ideal
akindheart · 61-69, F
@reflectingmonkey i am headed to Peru...hope i don't leave anything there
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@akindheart awesome, what are you going to do there ?
Morrigan · F
I buy expensive shoes, usually $200-$300 and some of my clothes have been close to $300. I see it as an investment in clothes I like and will get a lot of wear from
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
Some of my suits cost about $1,200, so I would say they are my most costly clothing items.
@QCDog2659 Certainly, those are good reasons for the selection. Also, in bespoke or made to measure, one can often have working buttons on the cuffs or, as a change of pace, peak lapels on single breasted suits.
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
@LamontCranston Exactly!

I used to have my shirts custom made, but the maker died.

If you feel good in your clothing, you project that good feeling to others.
@QCDog2659 sometimes the contrast collar shirt gives an extra bit of style to a look.
I bought some shoes recently for a charity event. More than 500 but hopefully will be something I can get a bit of wear out of.
MrEagle · 41-45, M
Gotta be a suit. Can’t remember the price but it would be hard for me to spend more than $100 on any piece of clothing.
Probably my work boots. I don't see the point of spending a lot on clothes. The cheap stuffs from target works just fine.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
My Birkenstock and Chaco collection, hands down.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard they're worth it honestly. My favorite shoes ever.
@SwampFlower Mine, too, since college. And I credit them with the fact that at age 63 I have no corns or bunions.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard they're the only ones that don't bother me now.
Pfuzylogic · M
My Brazilian Suit back in 1974.
It was easily $200.
kimmy159 · F
@Pfuzylogic It already sounds nice 😊 which colour?

gummybears · F
I buy expensive shoes, but I won’t say how much they were.. 😅
kimmy159 · F
@gummybears I have my eyes on a pair that cost about 450 euros 🙈 not gonna buy them the first upcoming months though since I’m kinda broke atm 😂

🤔

I don't have anything that's considered expensive.

I wear like Mark Zuckerberg.

Except that I wear a Black TShirt.
WolfGirlwh0r3 · 36-40, T
in Vegas i had to buy a pair of pants to got to a restaurant which allowed me to be in sandals but not shorts, and though i had pants in my room, i didnt want to miss my reservation so had to fork out 200 for jeans to go to dinner....
WolfGirlwh0r3 · 36-40, T
@kimmy159 The reservation was as the Wynn resort, so that may help explain why, and YES totally not worth it, but i do wear them for special occasions now
kimmy159 · F
@WolfGirlwh0r3 At least you still use them haha
WolfGirlwh0r3 · 36-40, T
@kimmy159 well i could have warn them and then returned them, but what if i dropped something on them...
It's either a suit or leather jacket. I've had my suit for a couple decades, and doesn't fit anymore. The leather jacket I bought within the last 10 years. I also have a "dress" leather jacket that needs the zipper repaired and is a little tight. All probably topped out around $300.
Edit: That's $300/each
Since my suits are custom made, it is hard to say.
I bought a navy issue peacoat for around 500 I think
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I have nothing that I consider expensive. I do have a long winter coat I bought for about $28 (new with tags) on Ebay that originally sold for about $200. I think the most I’ve ever paid for anything is shoes, maybe $69 tops. I try to get my clothes on sale or clearance if I can.

$1800 for a fur coat
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Probably a suit. Maybe a long leather jacket or my kilt.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Walking boots, about £100 a pair.

When I was at school I suspect some of my uniform items cost more than that, but they were all paid for by a scholarship.
robb65 · 56-60, M
About 30 years ago I bought a pair of Elk skin boots for around $175. I've probably paid close to that much for boots since then, but those stand out in my mind.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
Shoes for about $250. Nice ecco biom aex's. I dont have any formal wear since it's not a scene I'm confident stepping into.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I have a couple of jackets that were around £350, a few things that were close to this but these are the most expensive I think.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
A 300 dollar suit. No, I'm not wealthy enough to afford fine suits. But I am grateful to have one.
SW-User
Berghaus coat that was expensive at the time (180) but lasted ten years and was well worth it
an Armani gown for a special affair. way more than I should have but it worked it's magic on him
AllelujahHaptism · 36-40, M
i only have 'normal' clothing, so nothing really
£35 on a pair of trousers maybe?
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
I dont buy expensive clothes as they dont last anylonger than cheap clothes .
coolguy10 · 31-35, M

$110 for a a coat
My wedding outfit was a simple ivory sleeveless dress and jacket, possibly about $50. But I owned a couple of pairs of Arché pumps that cost around $300, that I was able to wear to work and church for about 35 years, the only thing ever necessary was reinforcing the heels periodically. I still own them, and they’re still comfortable.

@SW-User What made it special? :D
SW-User
@kimmy159 It was a shearling coat, for winter. I bought it as a gift. I don't wear expensive clothes myself, I can't be bothered 😁
