Some people maybe but i wouldnt say experts. Its just a tool that helps complete tasks you would otherwise need an expert for.
...caused people to think they are experts..
is a good clarification. A person is able to look something up, read a paragraph which may or may not have been edited, or read an excerpt, or a quote, and as stated in the question think themself an expert on any given topic. Too often emotion, or sometimes a lack of, adds to the chaotic and confused thinking.

Seems that way.
Nobody knows more about ...
June 2015: “There’s nobody bigger or better at the military than I am.”
July 2016: "So a general gets on, sent obviously by Obama, and he said, 'Mr. Trump doesn't understand. He knows nothing about defense.' I know more about offense and defense than they will ever understand, believe me. Believe me. Than they will ever understand. Than they will ever understand."
Nov 2015: "I know more about ISIS than the generals do."
Nov 2015: "I know more about courts than any human being on Earth."
Mar 2016: "Nobody knows more about trade than me."
Apr 2016: "I know more about renewables than any human being on Earth."
May 2016: "I think nobody knows more about taxes than I do, maybe in the history of the world. Nobody knows more about taxes."
July 2016: "[L]ook, as a builder, nobody in the history of this country has ever known so much about infrastructure as Donald Trump."
Feb 8 2017: "I understand things. I comprehend very well. Ok? Better than, I think, almost anybody"
Dec 2018: "Technology — nobody knows more about technology than me."
Jan 2019: "I know more about drones than anybody. I know about every form of safety that you can have."
Want video evidence Trump said these things?

I think everyone believes that they are an expert in their particular field and we shouldnt question them about what they think and say!
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
Well I know I am… 🤔
No, I've never heard anyone claim to be an expert on everything, only about certain subjects. Well, other than Trump that is. He's just the best in every way if you can believe him.

I'm not going to blame that one on the internet. The internet might make it a little easier to belive that, but i think the tendency predates the internet by a long while.
Foolish people (me included) have always believed that they know a great deal more than they actually do. It's kind of human nature for fools like me to find comfort in such beliefs.

Some robots I know seem to think they know a lot of stuff.
But they still do not know how to click on all the images with traffic lights. 🚦

Certainly the leftists
exexec · 70-79, C
I just see a lot of people claiming expertise who are totally unqualified. They are loud, emphatic, and wrong.
ElwoodBlues · M
@exexec There's a wonderful subreddit called r/confidentlyincorrect devoted to such people!!

Add IA to that and you got it. No need for real experts any more, because it's known
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
People have been this way since the dawn of time. The Internet and social media has merely made it more visible.
