Be honest. Do you actually like old B&W movies like Casa Blanca or old Cowboy movies ??

Notanymore · 36-40, M
Absolutely. And the Andy Griffith show, dick van dyke show, ect....
@Fungirlmmm great
Notanymore · 36-40, M
@Fungirlmmm definitely some of the best comedy ever
@Notanymore very good
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I am not a fan of cowboy movies. But I love Casablanca, and I do enjoy lots of old black and white movies.

I ignore most new movies.
@DrWatson good call
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
High noon (1952)

The Man who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)

Those Abbott & Costello movies.

The Addams Family series (1964)

Francis the talking Mule (1950)

Boys town (1938)

All great movies and show I watch when I am in the mood. I even went to see High Noon in the picture theatre back in November. Because why wouldn't you?
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@helenS Try Lee Marvin in The Dirty Dozen and The Big Heat.
helenS · 36-40, F
@therighttothink50 ... I thought the greatest speech ever made in a film is Charles Chaplin in "The Great Dictator"?
helenS · 36-40, F
@therighttothink50 Thank you I'll ckeck it out 🌷
craig7 · 70-79, M
Casablanca is a great classic - even if you overlook the inaccurate portrayal of the historical background.Practically everyone in then-French North Africa were in fact Vichy supporters,and not the great patriots portrayed in the movie - though of course its producers and wartime movie audiences would not have been aware of that.
@craig7 Very interesting.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Yes
Classic old films are the best.
And more sophisticated too.🙂
@Zonuss very true
ArtieKat · M
Casablanca is probably my most favourite movie of all time. High Noon is up there too.
@ArtieKat @ArtieKat yes I love the movie too, Ricks place . And I believe it was made during the war too
ArtieKat · M
@Evolved Casablanca was made in 1942 I think
@ArtieKat @ArtieKat yes, during the war
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Some of them I like but when they started showing so many of the color movies it opened up a whole new movie world for me. Bonanza and Gunsmoke seemed to come to life more. I still watch the old B & W Gunsmoke shows often though, they are classics.
@cherokeepatti really nice
PatKirby · M
@cherokeepatti
Let's not forget High Chaparral and Rifleman!

therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
I own 5000 b/w films, be happy to recommend many to you.

The best westerns are Shane, High Noon and Red River.
helenS · 36-40, F
@therighttothink50 5000 😳
"High Noon" is so much more than just another wild west movie.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Did you know they showed the film to a test audience without the song and it wasn't received well, then they added the song and it made it great.

Tex Ritter father of the late John Ritter of Three's Company sitcom fame.@helenS
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
I like old western tv shows. Wagon train. Bonanza . The high chaparral
Repete · 61-69, M

Poppies · 61-69, F
Casablanca is great!
When I get into a good movie I soon forget the color or lack thereof.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
[/center]I love really old movies from the 50s 60s etc,they are genuine and not contrived to be "inclusive"..By that i mean if there is a need for a black character then there is a black character all fair enough,without there being any just shoe-horned in to suit a trend.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i am going to Casablanca in Sept. i need to watch that movie from start to finish because I am going to Rick's Cafe
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart Casablanca is not like the movie. I have never been to that cafe though, pretty sure it’s just a tourist trap.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Yes.
It deppends on the quality of the movie.
Casablanca is and will be an old time "must".
And there are other ones.
helenS · 36-40, F
Yes, absolutely. I even admire some silent movies, such as "Nosferatu" or "The Golem".

never saw Casa Blanca and can't say i like cowboy movies whether in color or not. i'm sure there's some b&w movies i've liked. can't think of any rn, tho
ElRengo · 70-79, M
@Evolved
And it haves some things other than romanticism.
@ElRengo Casa Blanca is sort of romantic
ElRengo · 70-79, M
@Evolved
Of course that is romantic!!!!
What I´ve said is that it also haves roots extended to other life contradictions.
As it happens in life.
What makes romanticism more real and deep.
icedsky · 51-55, M
One in particular. Dr Strangelove.
@MsSwan So nice
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
Repete · 61-69, M
Yes I do , I still use a vcr also for some reason it makes the older movies even better to me. The old tv shows were better than most of the stuff they have today
not really - but not because they are in black and white, but because I don't feel any connection to them. There are some things in black and white that I enjoy.
PatKirby · M
Not just yes,but hell yes. Especially the Three Stooges! Now old monster flicks are cool too. So was Sin City.
@PatKirby Classics
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Love them, even some of the old "silent" films -- though, of course, they were never actually silent.
Yes. They have a certain charm. Plus old B movies are hilarious as well.
