My lovely husband. No matter what was going on, he always gave me a calm, logical perspective and if I was in the wrong, he was compassionate yet still held me accountable. I miss him every day. 😢

God and His Word....

No one. I could've used an older brother or two.
It used to be my one friend, but we’re lucky to get together once a year anymore. These days, I guess it’s myself. I don’t really have anyone who can relate to things I’m going through, and I’m pretty much just an isolated SAH mom anymore. I can’t talk openly about the stuff I’m battling anymore, and that’s exhausting and very isolating.

I have to say myself. I’ve received very little useful advice in my life. I was just barely an adult when I was orphaned. I put myself through college and grad school and the profs were all about the subject with little care for anything else.

Wow, tough decision. I've had a few.

My grandfather's words still echo in my head and he's been gone over a decade.

My faculty advisor from undergrad was amazing in so many ways despite her dislike of my decision to join the Navy upon graduation.

My CO when I was given command of my first team.

But, no, I think my favorite advisor throughout my life up to and including this day is my mom. She's always been willing to listen to anything and to tell me when I'm being an idiot.

I never HAD an advisor. There were people I admired, for sure...but I couldn't BE like them....way too exhausting.

I had people who TRIED to tell me what to do and where to go and what to think, but unfortunately, they were idiots or narcissists.
