I'm one who says yes knowing I'm in the minority. US society in general has distanced itself from taking pride in the country it was born. To me that mindset has become a disgrace I blame our government education and justice systems for.

Yes. It teaches children that they are PART of a great Republic, and a great nation. It teaches the importance of liberty, and justice. It teaches them that loyalty to their nation is important, and it teaches them that the flag is a symbol of all of the above, and should be respected.
