No. I was an athlete, but I was also on the newspaper and yearbook staffs, so I had jock and nerd friends.

There was a clique of girls in my class, many of them from well to do families. I didn't fit in with them, right from the first day of junior high. Eventually, I found friends either in the class below or above me.

Firstly, the athletes/jocks,
Then I was the guard dog for the brainy geeky kids,
and lastly the popular folks.
