How long have you been sleeping on your mattress?

Do you replace your mattress regularly? Every 10 -15 years or so?

I've had my mattress for 15 years and I'm in the market for a new one.

Yes I think I do, only because when I was a child I had a bunk beds, then a princess bed, an ordinary single bed which came with a mattress, my parents spare double bed and then finally I bought my dream bed with memory foam mattress just before lockdown in 2020.

I got a new one when I moved into the dorm in the fall. The one I have at home I’ve had for years, and it’s starting to have a dip in the middle, so it could use a replacement.

I have had a Sleep Number mattress for several years and keep a water proof mattress protector on it and sheets and pillow cases changed regularly.

It still seems to be like new.

Mine is about 10 years old...maybe a little more. It was a $2000 mattress, so I will try to get by turning and flipping it to make it last the rest of my life.

If you decide to buy one, don't go for one with memory foam. They are darn comfortable but...

If you are a quiet sleeper and when you want to turn around, it takes too much force to get out of that memory foam and you wake up because you need to exert too much force to change position...

@Stephie no I don't have anything as sexy as a waterbed... lmao. I am pretty hot though.
Stephie · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I can see that. Your eyes on your profile picture are pretty expressive

@Stephie I don’t own a water bed. My wife and I have ours on a wood platform.
10-15 years??? With the mold in my home, I need a whole new bed every 5 years or whenever I lie in bed struggling to breathe... whichever comes sooner because the mold spores are worst right under the head of the box springs.
@HootyTheNightOwl I’m sorry to hear about the mould in your home. I remember I had to clean my friends rented house out about 6 weeks ago. I had no idea she was living in those conditions. The mold had spread onto the window sill and a spot on the floor. She’s out of there now and someone has bought the house to modernise and look after it so happy ending. I wish you all the best.
@Gingerbreadspice My landlord doesn't give a fig. I went most of december with no heat because they wouldn't fix the boiler because of the smell that was caused by damp and an unheated home.

We are a disabled house and that was an emergency repair. It took from February to the 18th December and a company quitting and refusing to come back and do the job.

There's a row of bins on the other side of the wall above my bed. They are so close to my wall that the wall can't breathe and mold is growing. My landlord won't order the people who the bins belong to to remove their bins, so I just have to put up with it and keep replacing my mouldy furniture.
@HootyTheNightOwl I think my friends landlord was the same in fact she no heating upstairs and that’s where the mould was. It gave me the ick god knows what it’s like for you inhabitants. Hope you come out of this soon.

I have had a Serta memory foam bed for 12 years and it is still just like it was new.
I've had a DreamCloud for a little over two years now and I really like it.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
hmm like 4 years now, I'm going to replace it probably as soon as I get a job. Since I'm quite minimalistic I will make sure to always have a nice mattress, the best food, and a good chair. I'll be able to splurge on the essentials.

About 5 years. I get new bedding every 2 years, and the mattress has a good protective cover.

I bought my new mattress since early 2020, a couple of weeks before the first Covid deaths in the USA. Makes it easy to remember.
oldguy73 · 70-79, M

10 years now. We bought new furniture when we retired and moved to Florida.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Oh yea fully replace it in few months like 1800 months or so
Stephie · 22-25, F
@Donotfolowme Oh, a padded coffin?
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I recently bought a new one
I have had my mattress from a clearance outlet for five years now, it is not double sided, time for a far more quality top, I can keep the spring box, from a regular dealer.
