Help, I live in a sexless marriage!

My wife is catholic, quite a few months ago she was told by her church that we must live as brother and sister because her previous divorce of many years ago was not recognized by the catholic church! So she is taking this as law and will not allow me to make love to her or even touch or see her without clothes. I'm at my wits end with this, any help here?

If the catholic church is claiming it, I'd visit the priest and let him know he screwed up your marriage and you're leaving your wife of 30 years and it's his fault. See what his reaction is.
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@carpediem in process with that, but she has been told she has to find her ex and have the church talk to him, she has no idea where he is so its at a stalemate! They must talk to him to go any further.

@ValkyrieRider
wish it was that easy!
It is that easy though. If she loves the church more than the 30 years you've spent together then she belongs in a nunnery.

@ValkyrieRider Time to find a new religion
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
First of all. Leave. This is a toxic marriage.

If you are forced to stay, then say YOU ARE NOT BROTHER AND SISTER. you are HUSBAND AND WIFE.

HER Faults are not your own. And you dont have to take this bullshit.

Fucking leave. Youre already at that age where you are at the end of your years and you are unhappy. Find a new church. This one is power tripping. And youre being very Naive to follow through with it.

Just leave. This will change her demeanor real quick when it comes to her being brainwashed.

@ScarletWitch I've talked to three priests, all the same message, its a catholic thing and we cannot get around it unless our ex's die or the original marriage is annulled. but since she cannot locate her ex to get annulled we are at a stalemate!
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
@ValkyrieRider im Christian. Become a Christian. We have the same god. Same jesus. We have a reverand. Not a priest. Thats the only difference. We both still go to heaven. And we believe differently. Change your religion. Being catholic is no different than Christians. You just have the 1st testament rules.

Again your marriage is valid. Dont let anyone tell you differently.
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@ScarletWitch I am not catholic, I attend a Baptist church and am a Christian. These are the rules of the catholic church, not mine, so I totally do not understand them!
Tell em you're going to live as priest and altar boy instead.
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
divorce is not an option, we've been together for 30 years, no problems till she started attending this catholic church.
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
@ValkyrieRider that church sounds disgusting. Move away lol
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@ScarletWitch These are all catholic church rules, not just this one. I've checked it out!
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
@ScarletWitch I think toxic is the word.

She’s catholic that’s a great reason to get divorced. You could always hunt down the last man she married and beg him to end it but that sounds expensive and extremely time consuming. Best to get her out of your life maybe they are fun in bed but religious women have “insanity” written all over their body in invisible ink. Trust me, if all the religious people in the world passed on single the world would me a LOT more peaceful and humane
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@Greyjedi not an option after 30 years of great marriage, this is a relative new thing
Cooper · 61-69, M
Sounds like an excuse for her not to have sex with you.
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@Cooper all was fine before she started going to this "church"

I think a marriage counselor could help. Or remind her that you are not married and tell her you want a divorce. Loosing everything might shed new light on her situation.
Just my opinion

Well it sounds like your wifes church is rather amoral

What do celibate priests know about male female relationships. They need to get a life.

Jesus was accessible to the Samarian woman at the well, married five times. Good job he was not Roman Catholic.
SW-User
Move to another church, Baptist, Liberal Anglican.

Be careful of some Anglicans, some do not tolerate divorce, but they still sin, like the rest of us and rely on Gods grace.
Simple. The money you used to give to or spend on her, spend on a high end hooker. Cut off your wife's loot and God will quickly take a back seat.
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@Auggie Wont work, she has her own money! So mine can go to another girl!!
Greyjedi · M
You could tell her to pretend you two are Jamie and Cersei Lannister. If that doesn’t work you should start singing “1”
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Change churches where the Priest isn't such a fuckwit.
SW-User
@Thevy29 Would not use quite those words, but the Roman Catholic Church does not have a monopoly of Christianity, and there are other churches which show compassion and love.
SW-User
Convert to a religion that doesn't care about divorce
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M
@SW-User I'm not catholic, only she is
If you divorce her could you remarry her and go back to normal married life ?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Divorce her. I wouldn't put up with that BS
SW-User
@smileylovesgaming No that is not the answer.
I am a divorced and remarried Christian. I’ve experienced the hostility of towards remarried people. But came to the conclusion that everyone sins, and needs Gods forgiveness. So they should look at themselves first.

There are more inclusive churches.
walabby · 61-69, M
You're screwed... and she's not.. :(
ValkyrieRider · 56-60, M

@Scribbles Yep, great examples! I've thought about this the same way, I've even talked to 3 priests myself but they all say the same thing! Annulment seems to be the only way which we are working on, but they still say they have to talk to her ex, which cannot be found, we keep going around in circles! and yes, at the end the "church" would make us get "remarried" ! Stupid catholic church!
