Steel is way stronger than plastic, so it can handle heavy loads and the pressure from stuff like big machines or lots of traffic. This toughness helps keep it from getting damaged and makes it last a long time.
Steel pipes are built to stand up to rough conditions, especially around chemicals or wastewater. While some plastics can break down over time if they touch certain things, steel can often get a special coating to help it resist erosion and rust.
Steel pipes can handle higher temperatures than most plastics, which can get soft or bend if they get too hot. This is really important for drainage systems that might deal with hot stuff.
When steel pipes are buried, they keep their shape better than plastic pipes, which can get squished or collapse under heavy loads or shifting soil. That’s why steel is a reliable choice for drainage systems that need to stay stable for a long time.
Plus, steel is fire-resistant, so it’s a safer pick in places where there’s a risk of fire.

A ginseng grower friend of mine. His brother sells sells culverts and large scale drain pipe for a living.
One phone call and I had your answer and I knew they were up cause I past their house every night coming home.
Thank you for the best comment 🥰🥰🥰

i much prefer sewer line pipe over black crappy pipe. it is smooth inside and has much thicker ends for connection. will not leak!!

If it's going to be buried, plastic of that style will just crush

@averageguy thank you. I never know if what they tell me is true

In the build process I have been doing when I say plastic they say metal and verse verse. I do not get it either.

They make a double wall pipe like the black, smooth inside.
Id perfer that over steel.

Plastic can crush or deform. They use it with French drains ( shallow ) Depends really on the size and depth of the project .

Time to lay some pipe! Heh! 😛

Not even close to the same thing, but plastic is fine on situation

That truck load of steel pipe is the truck you are driving.
