Do you want it to be weird? Do you want it to become a fetish? Do you want it to be a thing you associate with yourself?

It's all up to you. 🤷‍♀
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@FoxyQueen I don't want it to be a fetish, no.

DrWatson · 70-79, M
One thing to know.

Some people have a condition where they will have persistent bad breath even if they practice excellent oral hygiene. One possible cause is bacteria in the stomach, but there are several problems in the digestive tract that result in bad breath.

So, I would advise keeping that in mind as a possibility when you decide on the tone of voice in which you bring this up with her.

Here is a link with more info:

Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@DrWatson Thanks! Breath mints and mouth wash don't seem to work.
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
I did have a relationship with someone like that a long time ago. At first I thought she had just had some soup.
After, id relate it to soup. So id think about soup .
I was younger then and didn't have courage to just tell her.
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Infamous607 What happened?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I've even managed to kiss her still

If it's love, it has to be stronger than bad breath. On the other hand, you're a braver man than me. 🥴
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@FreddieUK JA! I know. Me too.
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@Billybob2 That's so fucking funny my friend.
You are definitely taking one for the man team
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Infamous607 That's what one of my friends said when he smelled her breath, didn't realize it was admirable. He tried to scare her by sneaking up on her, but it backfired on him when she screamed in his face and he got a whiff.
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
Here's something novel... instead of being abusive and passive-aggressive as so many people here are suggesting - why not talk to her about it if it bothers you so much???
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@HootyTheNightOwl
I mean come on
So much energy trying to find a way around the whole thing. It'd be so much easier to just tell her.
You don't have to be rude...
You can say..

hey babe. I love you but every time you yawn, the hole in the ozone layer gets bigger"

You know, something romantic like that.
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
@Infamous607 Well... I thought it made more sense to talk to her than it would be to buy her a dental consult or a dental hygiene kit - as others have suggested.

I mean, just imagine how you'd feel if your SO presented you with a selection of dental care products or a dentist consult for a problem that might have it's origins elsewhere in the body.

I know I'd find it humiliating enough that the relationship would be over for me. I had enough of passive-aggressive shit like this with my mother, who would "point out" to me that my freshly washed (and still wet) hair was greasy. No... It's not greasy... it hasn't dried yet from the shower - that's why it looks as it does.

I'll never live with shit like that again - and I don't care how many people think my healthy boundaries are "petty".
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@HootyTheNightOwl Nah. Nothing petty about that.
I think what would make me upset is .. if I were to ask her how long it's been like this...and she says...mm six months...a year!..
That would piss me off
HoeBag · 46-50, F
ehh, persistent bad breath would be a hard "no" for me.

Just think though, if she ever tells you to kiss her 4ss during an argument, you could say, "It probably doesn't smell as bad as your breath."
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
Dude that's a tough one. Have you told her???
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Infamous607 Indirectly, like offering her mints. They don't seem to be very effective for long before I get a whiff of her bad breath when she's either talking or we're kissing.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
i was with a chick who was really hot but she had bad breath
i broke up with her. i didnt tell that was why, but that was why.
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
@Matt85 Yes, well, I'm less tolerant of certain bs now than I was before... and I'm much more likely to see some types of abuse better than others.

Why would you even want to be with someone who buys you a dental hygiene kit over sitting down and talking to you about it, anyway???

Surely, if your partner cared that much and really wanted to help you through a problem, they'd sit down with you and establish if it's a diagnosed problem (everyone here is mentioning a dental issue, which is the most obvious problem... but, did you know that sleep apnea can also cause bad breath??? If she has that, getting dental hygiene products only treats one of the symptoms - she'll still need help from her doctor and dentist to deal with the underlying problem), what you've already tried and how they can help/support you???

For all we know, she might already be practicing good dental hygiene and suddenly being presented with dental hygiene products like "This is a toothbrush - use it" could be humiliating for her.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@HootyTheNightOwl again, sorry that your mum has done stuff like that to you.

i think you are right, that is probably the way to deal with it but however you go about it, you're still gonna cause offense.

the cure for gingivitis, according to google, is really rigorous dental hygiene, the usual stuff but more frequent and thorough. the OP said that it was gingivitis and hey, these things cost money and you have to order them and go out and get them. if someone bought me some Curanail for my 2 moldy toenails, i would probably laugh and be grateful. £18 last time I checked.
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
@Matt85 I doubt OP is a doctor/dentist, so, at best you have a self diagnosis via him... and it still needs checking out by a qualified professional. If it is sleep apnea, then it could be fatal.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Ever considered gifting her a dental consult?
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
Can true love overcome bad breath :)
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Softandsweet2 Apparently so
Lilymoon · F
Lol just tell her
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Wow!!! You deserve an award
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Donotfolowme You really think so?
Encourage brushing and flossing, that should be a start
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
That's a showstopper right there.
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Not for me, I've somehow dealt with it.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Billybob2 Your breath might be as bad as hers... I suppose.
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul Maybe.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Why don't you tell her? Is she missing a lot of teeth?
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@hunkalove I've given her breath mints, but they don't usually stick. No teeth missing, might have a rotten one.
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
Give her mints lol
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Monalisasmith86 It doesn't last that long.
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
@Billybob2 give her gum
lissah · 36-40, F
Buy her some mouthwash
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@lissah The effects only last for so long.
TexChik · F
