Not so new

I love listening to people reading and also reading to other people. I do this with my adopted daughter to encourage her reading habit and it has become an important part of our relationship.

@SunshineGirl that’s great. She will always love reading and think of you when she finds good books that’s amazing

Most books on coin collecting are between £10 and £20 on Amazon... so I don't think it's that expensive for brand new books - not when you factor in what it goes through to get from the author's brain to your bookcase.
The only thing I don't like is that some books on coin collecting are often out of date the minute you add them to your basket.

@HootyTheNightOwl these books were not about collecting they had many romance novels, it looked as though a bookstore had maybe gone out of business.

@LavidaRaq The most expensive romance novel I saw on page 1 of Amazon was £10.45, for a paperback. Add in Prime or postage and you're already paying more than Goodwill charged.

Yes, steep price I think for today for the books.
I lie being read too, but I am not one that gets into poetry much, more into stories.

@WillaKissing yeah I don’t go there for new books. Used and older ones are fine with me. So it was odd to see them priced so high
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@LavidaRaq I agree with you!
Harmonium1923 · 56-60, M
I prefer reading to someone else rather than having someone read to me. And poetry is perfect for reading aloud.
LavidaRaq · F
@Harmonium1923 I think I would love someone reading poetry to me.

$10 a book, particularly for a new book, seems cheap to me.
LavidaRaq · F
@ChipmunkErnie I will check them out, thanks
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@LavidaRaq It's a sort of clearing house for hundreds, maybe thousands of smaller book stores and dealers. LOTS of used books, plus new ones. Just type in a book or an author and find all kinds of prices, editions, etc.
LavidaRaq · F
@ChipmunkErnie oh nice! Thank you again

New @ $10? hmmm
If new would be $20+...not bad.

I'm old enough to remember when goodwill was true discount, books for 25 cents, shirts for 50 cents, jeans for two bucks, 15 bucks could get you a couch, 5 bucks got you a basic stereo or boom box, 7 bucks a 13inch television, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, dirt cheap, 25 cent drinking glasses, etc.
LavidaRaq · F
@NativePortlander1970 yes! I expect cheaper books when I go there
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@LavidaRaq So so I

$10 for a book from Goodwill is outrageous!
