I’m listening more than reading these days because I’m working on other projects in my spare time so this way I still get my books while I’m busy. Currently it’s another round of Sense and Sensibility. When I need comfort, it’s Jane or Agatha these days, but I’m still building the library. I hope you enjoy Tolkien! Those stories are old favorites. 🙂

I'm a BAAAAAD person. I don't read books. They're too long. Even the shortest ones.

You are consistently funny. If you wrote a book as wry as your comments, I'd read it 👍

I usually have more than one on the go.
At the moment, three.
"Joseph and His Brothers" by Thomas Mann (very small print and only read a few pages each week - now around page 1100 of 1500)
"Barbarossa : How Hitler Lost the War" by Jonathan
Dimbleby.
"Treasury of the True Dharma Eye" by Eihei Dogen

@SunshineGirl What do you think of the first one? I’ve never read anything by her but I’ve heard others speak well of her.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Harmonium1923 It's a sort of feminist version of Jane Austen. Looks at the psychologies of two girls and a woman whose destinies are to be shaped by the will of a patriarchal physician. I'm about a third of the way through and fairly gripped.
Elizabeth Gaskell was once employed to write by Charles Dickens, but he apparently found her impossible to work with!

Good question -- just finished THE HOBGOBLIN MURDER by Kay Cleaver Strahan last night, not sure what I'll start to read next. Probably book 3 of The Brentford Trilogy, EAST OF EALING, by Robert Rankin.

Living the Beatles Legend, by Kenneth Womack (2024). A biography of Beatles' road manager Mal Evans. I think I'm about to give up. One of those "too much information" books. Gets boring.

I was reading Lasher by Anne Rice but I got sick of it. I'm sick of Anne Rice.
So now I'm reading a book about Sir John A MacDonald (Canada's first Prime Minister), sounds boring but I like it.
