I'm curious if anyone's actually tried this

I saw this thing (probably an ad, let’s be honest) where they had a charcuterie board with fried honeycomb on it… like you put it on crackers with cheese and meat and all that.
And I was like… yep. that looks amazing. So of course I bought two honeycombs.
Now I’m sitting here thinking…how exactly am I supposed to fry this without it just… melting into a sticky situation??

Like I know you can fry ice cream somehow, so I’m not doubting science… I’m just doubtin me.
Also… does it even fix the texture??

Because I can eat honeycomb but that chewy wax thing is not my favorite. So is it better… or just warm and still weird?
And then I started thinking…

if the point is warm honey with cheese…
why am I not just… warming honey??
Anyway. I may or may not be about to experiment and regret it.

Has anyone actually tried this?? 😅

To deep-fry honeycomb, coat chunks in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, then fry in 350-360°F oil for 3 minutes until crispy. This method creates a warm, gooey, melted interior with a crunchy shell. It is often served immediately as a unique, sweet-and-savory dessert, similar to breaded snacks.

What I was thinking was that you might try it the way they used to make fried ice cream at a place here in town. They super froze the ice cream — like liquid nitrogen cold — and then dropped that into boiling hot oil just long enough for a crust to form on the outside. No idea if it would work.
@DunningKruger awesome! thank you

Looks like good practice. You can work your way up to this for the holidays.

@OlderSometimesWiser What? Where my invite? What is your address? You can't go house wrecking without me! 😜
I've never seen someone fry or prepare honeycomb. Interesting. I just love to chew on it until the honey comes out.
@greensnacks will be an interesting thing to try I think

I love warm honey and honeycomb on a charcuterie board. It’s delish! But, if I just get the waxy part, I don’t usually eat it. 😄

I've had warmed honey and I love some Mike's Hot Honey .. but no experience frying the comb. AI'd it though

@BrandNewMan That's pretty much what I guessed.

Nope not me and I have never heard of that before. Sounds good though, but I would not know how not to melt the sucker down either.
This sounds wonderful and exactly like something that would cause me to hurt myself.
@Mamapolo2016 same lol still going to try

Sometimes I think they just make this shit up to look good. It appeals to the idea of having a honey comb and this naturalistic presentation. In practice probably not so good.
@JimboSaturn I honestly cant see this working out well

@Bexsy maybe if you have a deep fryer? lol
