Was I wrong for refusing to give a doordash driver my name?

I asked him why he wanted to know my name and he told me he just wanted to say goodbye to me. I told him he could do that without knowing my name. I told him flat out he doesn't need to know that information. He was giving off creepy vibes.

I've worked a lot with the public and I find that if someone is in a situation where a professional reason makes that they must talk with you then its inapropriate to try to make it more personal. its like they're trapped. its creepy. in my business I've interacted with men and women, sometimes beautiful women, but never have I used that context to aproach them personally.

@reflectingmonkey I should have clarified that I was at work at the time working whilw he was picking up an order.

@Crimsondrops well, that would be weird lol. i dont blame you then if you were like just standing there and he came up to you in passing. ets- oops posted under wrong spot
Penny · 46-50, F
well, id think it would be common courtesy of you to give him your name as hed just done a service for you. he is probably just a lonely person who wanted a name to a face. of course its within your rights to withhold that information but it does seems kind of overly suspicious and cautious of you. the guy just risked his life and car driving for you and you couldnt even tell him your name? i mean, it sure shows what kind of opinion you have of doordash drivers no matter how creepy he may have seemed.

@Penny I should have clarified that I was at work at the time working while he was picking up an order.

@Crimsondrops then you should have gave him your name since it was business. sounds unprofessional to deny him your name
Crimsondrops · 36-40, M
@Penny But I don't think he needed it because I wasn't even the one serving him.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I think you did the right thing.
Nope. They're role is to be efficient, courteous but professional. Which precludes limiting interactions strictly to the exchange of business.
Always trust your gut.

You were right in doing so, however he may be required to have on record who received the Order for "Proof of Performance."

I avoid door dash.
Should have just told him your name is Slappy and given him a nice kiss on the cheek.
Crimsondrops · 36-40, M
@OlderSometimesWiser No thanks he was not my type
@Crimsondrops Maybe someone cuter will show up next time so have the name Slappy handy and make sure your breath is minty fresh.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F

You ring the door bell and dash away
why bother getting into it like that when you can just give him a fake name
Crimsondrops · 36-40, M
@deadinternet Sometimes I feel it's best to be straightforward and stand my ground.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
