How do you get the courage to message someone on here?

I've sent a message expressing a thought or interest in getting to know them better. I included an indication I'd respect their choice if they were not interested. The approach seems to be received ok, even if nothing went forward. I've made some friends that way.

If it’s someone I see that we have mutual interest and we’ve had some interactions in posts then I may send one. Of course after reading about me and message introduction if they have one. Some reply and some don’t. Sometimes it leads to long conversations if they do reply and some go into the message archives rather quickly

Tbh, I'd only do it if I wanted to discuss something that either I wouldn't want to discuss publicly or something that might be uncomfortable for another person to discuss publicly. And I'd ask them if they'd mind if we continued in PMs or directly replied to them as a PM instead of a regular comment on the story.

Extremely normal for a site like this. Just reach out and introduce yourself to see where it leads. Most people here are friendly, kind and looking to connect with others with common interest.

I don't typically see it as courage as much as it's just feeling like there's something I need to say. Kind of low risk isn't it? They will either respond....or not respond. In the latter case you never have to worry about it again because anything else said would have to come from them.

I don’t really know. I don’t like to bother people. There’ are two people that I genuinely enjoy, but I still only message them on rare occasion.

Just do it, try and chat with the person/s in the forums first if you can, get a feel if they might want to chat. Or just go for it, what's the worst that can happen? Good luck.

Why? It's easier on here than a face to face conversation, as long as you don't say "when was the last time you fucked a horse?" Generally people will respond favourably, we're all here for the same reason, we like to chat ❤

I started to say, "Just do it." Then I realized that I almost never message anyone until they have messaged me.

If you've interacted amicably a few times and actually have something to say - or just to say hi...should be fine provided it's a regular person...

I usually just compose and send. If they don’t answer, that’s their prerogative

That has never bothered me. If I want to message someone I just do it. On the flip side not everyone replies. 🤷‍♂

You just gotta do it type with one hand and have the other on the block button
