What is something you saw in someone’s house that made you never go back?

They didn’t wash their dishes. I’m dead serious. They didn’t wash dishes in that house. They just wiped them down with a paper towel and put them in the cabinet. I saw that with my own eyes. All their dishes were sticky, smelled funny, and had a weird color. Their cabinets were full of ants attracted to the dirty dishes.

Not only did I never go back there, but I never again took another bite out of any meals that came out of that house.

When my daughter was little, she was invited to a birthday party by a class mate. I only knew mum from the school gate, but she was pleasent enough.
We turned up to the party. There was a mini bouncy castle in the living room and the kids were having a great time. I sat on the sofa. Cat hair everywhere and the carpet was covered, and there was cat poo around the room. I went into the kitchen...'come get some food'. Lovely friendly people, spread looked great, but yes......cat hairs on the food.
My girl askedto go to the loo before we left. I couldn't believe my eyes. The bath was full of clothes in water and on top were strewn dozens and dozens of crushed up beer cans and bizarely an coffee table on top of those with half dozen overflowing ash trays!!!!

We didnt get invited back coz the family moved on before the child's next bday....but i'd never have set foot in there again!

I had a bad ex boyfriend. I went to live with him and his father not knowing anything about him. And my ex lied to me just so I would give him a ride up there which was 10 hours away from my family.

He was a hoarder. I recognize that there's levels of hoarding. There's the benevolent kind where it's just mostly stuff, that don't really bother me. And I recognize that it could be from trauma.

But when I got to his father's house, it was really bad. like biohazard bad.

There was a big part of the wall that wasn't there. It had collapsed or something. Rats would climb over where I was sleeping. The dishes and the microwave were covered in mold and there were sht rags in the sink. Also one time his father sprayed raid like it was perfume, something was physically wrong with him.

He would have these weird outbursts that kinda seemed almost like dementia and later after I had broke it off with this person, his father ended up going for heart surgery because he had no b12 in him and it dissolved his heart muscles and that affected his mental state as well.

And I spent about three weeks to a month in that house because at the time I was nearly 10 hours away from my family so I couldn't figure out how to come back.

I actually got some money and then lied about how much money I had to my ex boyfriend at the time so I could go to a hotel and then I left.

A woman from my church she has some mental health issues and mild learning disabilities, she said her house was getting her down so I offered to help her. Her house was absolutely filthy. Clothes, clutter and rubbish just piled everywhere. I helped her clean it. I scrubbed everything and then helped her make a cleaning schedule to follow so she could stay organised. The following week it was just as bad again because she'd made zero effort. Sometimes you just have to walk away.

Oh my Lord. That made me sick just reading it. Things like that are also why I never eat at potlucks.

I knew someone that had a biting dog. I got tired of always having to be on guard to avoid being bitten so I never went back. Most people refused to go there.

Oh mercy
During my later teens and for my summer job, I worked for a pest control company.
We would do pest control at apartment complexes and some restaurants…
I won’t go into great detail but some of the absolute filth some lived in was impossible to comprehend to say the least
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@Kiesel Hoarders or worse?
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
Eeww that’s so digusting. 🤢

My ex sister-in-law did not do housework or do general cleaning. I hated going to their house and would mostly decline going or just visit in the yard because their house was so gross. Like garbage all over the floor. 🤮
That’s wild.

I once went to a friend of a friends and she have cat poop everywhere. It smelled horrible. I never spoke to that person again. Also later on with that same friend, her apartment smelled awful, so I stopped going there too.

@deathfairy That's just plain lazy and nasty.

These were cat people.5 cats. 3 litter boxes in the small guest bathroom. Two were in the bathtub and one on the floor. All three were full of cat piss and poop and never cleaned. The bathroom was a mess and extremely stinky.
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@OlderCouple So many comments about cat piss and poop all over people’s homes. 💀

As a cat owner myself, I can’t even fathom how you let it get that bad in the first place. If a small little piece of poop falls out of the litter box and onto the floor I feel like I’m going to be sick.

Yeah I get that

One of my friends in high school seemed to never have paper towels, I found that annoying and stopped going.
Ewws, wtf 😫

It's the weird people who leave animal poops everywhere for me. I get paranoid about where I touch and step as soon as I notice and the smell alerts me as soon as I come in. I immediately start looking at everyone with the suspicious eyes bc they're acting like they don't smell it stankin like that. And I start wondering if they're used to it, how long has it been this way. It has become poopception.

@MellyMel22 My thoughts exactly. 🤢
That's mental
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Yuck 🤮 that's terrible how could they feel good even doing that ew
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@SatanBurger No idea. I had many meals that came out of that house before I knew. I don’t know how I never got food poisoning, but seeing this icked me out so bad. I still remained friends with the girl who lived there for years after that, but I would find any excuse to avoid eating anything that came out of her house from that point onwards. The image of their dish wipe downs with paper towels instead of dish soap and water was seared into my brain.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@deadmoon I wonder what goes on through someone's head though. I could see being friends with them especially if you didn't know before, I don't think it makes someone a bad person but still lol
