Do You Ever Find...

... Yourself censoring the things you'd like to say because the scenarios you play out in your head show a potential for a negative social outcome?

I second guess a lot in public but find myself more confident in writing.
Sometimes I’ll type out a reply but then think, “nope, not worth it” and delete.
@OlderSometimesWiser done that a time or 2. Also used the block button on some holier then thou people after trying to word something to not offend them multiple times. I have lots of patience until I have none
@Justafantasy When I first got here, I swore I’d never use the block button as I spent a lot of time on a site that didn’t have one. But now I’m very glad it’s an option. Still don’t use it a lot but nice to know it’s there.
@OlderSometimesWiser I've changed, my profile has changed, my attitude as well. Certain stuff I tolerated before because I wanted to be accepted by people in an online community I comment and if I get a "your opinion is wrong" response I use the block button. If it's an opinion, it's mine. You can have yours, I can have mine doesn't make one wrong, just different.

When you get to a certain age, you don't give a flick anymore and you speak your mind and say what you want.

*Deletes it all*

It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm an extrovert but also anxious... Wonderful combo!

Yes all the time. I’m autistic, and I have learned the hard way that I suck at presenting myself 😭
Monday40 · 51-55, F
I am always and forever second guessing me and something, especially my writing.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Yes, definitely
You don't have to please. Are you more comfortable writing in an anonymous space? Because that belies a little you need to please, for if you angered someone here it wouldn't matter. Just meandering thoughts of my mind.

@thewindupbirdchronicles It's more rooted in wanting people to understand my sincere intentions in communication than wanting them to validate my existence. One of my core values is to bring more positivity than negativity to this reality. I know and accept that I won't always succeed but I try. Communication is difficult, eh?

Thanks for sharing your mind space with me. :)

Yes, I tend to have an overly critical mind. People don't need to know all my thoughts. Only the good ones that can lead to positive outcomes.
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
In public no however since I returned to social media recently...all the time. 😔

@Samek thank ya
I censor myself a lot in reality, I've censored myself here because some stuff is out of context
TexasDude · 31-35, M
Yes, often. I wish I didn't have such negative thoughts in the first place
Once upon a time…

In a galaxy far far away.

I still have a filter on my mouth most days, but I completely lost the one for my facial expressions.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
I don't use filters. Yolo, say it how you see it
Samek · 36-40, M
@Donotfolowme I appreciate this about you.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Samek it can be hurtful as well. Truth and others' opinion aren't always pleasant
