No matter how much someone knows you care about them they think that means they can do whatever they want to use you or hurt you.

The majority of the things that went wrong were my fault. And I had to take responsibility for that even if the fault was as simple as “because I reacted badly to being mistreated.” If I’d maintained control instead of letting emotions lead, there wouldn’t have been as much damage.

My uncle always said if you treat people like you want to be treated that they would do the same with you. Sadly, many times it is not the case. That mantra was true in the farming community where we lived though. People were really good to help one another when they needed it. There are too many narcissists in the world today to be so trusting

People lie, even the ones you loved.

That being honest and hard working is just as likely to get you manipulated and taken advantage of as it is to get you ahead in life.
