Did your employers check your Facebook profile/page or even asked if you're in social media?

I might have to go through my profile and delete unwanted posts because my friend's employer went through hers and just in case this happens to me in the future too.

As an employer that was the first thing we did before the interview, check their social media footprint. If it was too egregious we cancelled the interview
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
I don’t have Facebook and I would not let them check.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
The last job I had they did check my Facebook account before the interview and they hired me anyway.
GunFinger · F
@SweetMae that's good. It surprised my friend that her employer requested to be her friend the other day to check on her. Lol
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@GunFinger The lawyers I worked for never did that!
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I’m the person at work who checks them for people we are going to interview. Make your page completely private!!
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Employers believe that they can follow you 24/7, if not friends of the manager would report my right wing views
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
No and even if they did, they're not going to find nothing since I'm not on Facebook.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
I got a job in a sensitive data department once and was asked about my lack of social media presence, probably for security reasons. I just told them I thought social media rots your brain and that was that. There was nothing to find, so they never followed up
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
no, that's none of their business

If they did, I still have friends in high places, I could call and have them dig up all kinds of dirt on that employer to bring to public attention... see how they like it... 🤔
They hever have but I don't use Facebook. I was always careful about what I posted. I really didn't like to post much. It's just not my thing. But it is out there just abandoned.
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
I believe most employers do before hire but I would just keep stuff private then if I ever added them after getting the job they could see my stuff I suppose

Thankfully I don’t post much

That has not come up at my workplace, which is surprising actually because I keep hearing about university teachers getting in trouble for social media posts.
I don’t know many people who still use Facebook.

I gave it up years ago.

@DazzaTheHutt facebook is merely.for showing off or maybe letting your friends know you're still alive that's why I'm not active there anymore.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@GunFinger truth be know, it's more my cats FB page these days than mine!
Jinxie · 51-55, F
Our company does, they have strict rules around social media.
It’s a shit show around review time.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
I have no idea but it wouldn't surprise me. There's nothing on it that would cause me concern.
Punxi · 26-30, F
Never had one save a ghost account. Facebook is the best reverse phonebook you can find.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
never had it personally happen but heard of all kinds of stories
ExtremeNext · 31-35
Nope
They didn't even do a reference check
jackson55 · M
No Facebook page, no problem.
That’s a good idea. It’s actually one of the many reasons I don’t have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…
GunFinger · F
@bijouxbroussard I'm not active on Facebook anymore too. I only post about/for family & just react at hilarious posts there. I don't know what I've done the past years though.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I was hired before that got too widespread. 17 year anniversary coming up in October
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
You need to be careful of what you post while you have a job too. Just remember that.

Oh, just expect that all will going forward
