Is it just a Hollywood thing? What are the rules?

If you look up movies starring Ellen Page they changed her name to Elliott in listings....."Juno starring Eliot Page about a teen girl who chooses adoption over aborting her baby."
Did they change all the Olympic medals Bruce Jenner won to Caitlyn Jenner?
When someone transitions is the person before the transition non existent?

I'd say it has less to do with transitioning and more to do with changing your name. Honestly some trans people are so much like the sex they want to be that you hardly notice when they do transition...doesn't seem like much of a difference with Ellen/Elliot. She was like a boy before lol.

What I do dislike though is how people are being coerced into accepting the trans narrative. And it's wrong how children are being exposed to this narrative by some people in some instances.

Nonetheless, when it comes to individual interactions with members of the trans community I don't think we should disrespect them or be unfriendly to them in any way. You could argue that they may be harming themselves in some ways, but they aren't harming you or anyone else...unless again they are trying to teach children about transitioning, which people are right to be upset about.
@SW-User trans community?
You're ears deep into their hind.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout it the low class women that support this that are the problem, they should be shipped off to Africa

The answer to your last questions is "apparently". After all, they have been removing statues of men who made substantial contributions based on things that were considered acceptable for their time. It's as if the contribution to society that was made no longer exists when compared with current societal "norms". If there is such a thing.

I contend that what is now considered acceptable for some is still quite outlandish for others. It's like saying a married woman who changes their name to that of their spouse suddenly loses their past identity. Their single self no longer exists.

Society is f*cked.

It seems so.
It feels quite sad, that a person and all they did just ceases to exist or we're supposed to pretend it didn't exist to a point.

@SW-User I like to believe that I can wrap my head round lots of diversity...in what ever. Its this particular one that consistently eludes me.
@Punxi I think "diversity" slipped in stealthily. It's irrational, discriminatory and not healthy for society. It sounds like something we all should favor but it is not.

People need to better understand what is meant by the people who promote it. It serves the agenda of agitators — mostly black, who created the movement — who spew hate at the American majority population. Though "diversity" is intended to primarily serve black people it has been expanded to include others — anyone not white heterosexual male, who it intends to weaken.

"Diversity" is disunity (the word itself is an antonym of "unity"). It means others have to accept those who reject acceptance of others, including their race and culture.

"Diversity" means permitting discrimination against white heterosexual men by replacing them or not hiring them. Positions, from corporate board seats on down, are to be redistributed by replacing the majority white heterosexual males with someone not.

"Diversity" (often labeled diversity, equity and inclusion) has quickly been widely accepted in society. The Fortune 100 all have created new positions in their companies with powers and privileges to promote and advance "diversity."

"Elliot" Page has made a big, giant fuss about his transition and I would not be surprised if he insisted on having his name changed on his past works.

Anything for attention.

An eye opener perspective. Recently heard a podcast with Jordan Peterson that kinda touched on this. The issue at hand , for me; is the fascinating debate it spurs.
@Punxi It's confusing, I'll call anyone whatever they want to be called but does their former self cease to exist?
Punxi · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 Right? History is altered. Must they then start from scratch? Definitely confusing, I agree.

Hollywood is in America. They call it the United States, but each of the 50 states deals with the law in their own way... Elliot could have gotten a court order to change his previous names. 🤷‍♂️
@Thevy29 you can legally change your name in all 50 states, it's true, as well as your gender, you can also say Elliot Page starred in a Movie called Juno about a teen girl getting pregnant.
But he didn't, that was Ellen.
Just like Caitlyn Jenner never won a gold medal in the Olympics, it was Bruce.

The term 'dead naming' would imply that yes, that previous identity is erased - but to make it retrospective is a bit weird - Page comes across to me as emotionally unstable - it will be interesting to see how it all turns out in the future.
